U.K. judge: Gore film biased but OK in schools

An update to this earlier essay, the UK Judge reviewing AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH in response to a lawsuit brought by a Dover truck driver, as determined that the film will be allowed in schools as long as the teacher do not endorse it.

I can see it now.  ‘Hey, lads, watch this film but don’t ask me what I think of it, as I am only your professor…’

More below the jump.

An excerpt:

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore’s Oscar-winning climate change documentary can be shown in English schools, a judge said Tuesday, even though he believes it promotes partisan political views. (snip) High Court Judge Michael Burton said Gore’s movie could be shown if the written guidance for teachers bundled with the program was changed to prevent Gore’s views from being promoted to children.

Prevent Gore’s views from being promoted to children.  Which ones?  Global warming is real?  We’re running out of time?  He really did invent the Internet?

Oh, wait… About that last one.

At least it will be shown in its entirety.  If it motivates one child toward concern for the environment, then it’s to the good.

  1. of people who fear information.  thanks for the update, and congrats on your beautiful tags!!

  2. Could get rid of a LOT of stuff on the airwaves then, couldn’t we? Maybe even close a few organizations down for good! That judge is so astute! My tinfoil hat is working already! He needs one too!

  3. shall we say, prone to make some of the oddest decisions – and in the strangest of ways. Some may remember the Jeremy Thorpe trial:

Peter Cook noted as another character that he would have liked to have been a High Court Judge but, “never had the Latin for the judging”.
