Want to understand what’s wrong with the Republican Party?

Then read this.  Seriously.

That is why the Republican party is in shambles. The majority of us have decided that the movers and shakers in the GOP and the blogospheric right are certified lunatics who, in a decent and sane society, we would have in controlled environments in rocking chairs under shade trees for most of the day, wheeled in at night for tapioca pudding and some karaoke.

  1. …and keep it in mind.  The Democrats are hardly immune to making the same bad decisions in the future.

The Republicans are not “falling apart” any more or less than the Democrats. There is nothing wrong with the Republican Party any more than what is wrong with the Democratic Party.  Both parties are functioning exactly as intended.

The owners of the Republicans and Democrats argue over tactics about how to maintain their control of the USA but they are firmly united in their 2-party dictatorship against the grass roots of both parties. Republicn grassroots are as consistently betrayed by the Republicans they elect as the Democrat grassroots are consistently betrayed by the Democrats they elect.

We the people have no place to go for effective alternatives, so we are forced to decide which of the two wings of the ruling party we should vote for, or we just abstain and fall into their successful game plan that way.

The Republicans ebb and the Democrats wane, then the tide changes in the opposite direction and it looks like we have a democracy. That is the illusion we are trained to accept like willing slaves.

What happens is that both parties are controlled by people in the right who feather their nests.  Bill Clinton admitted he was an Eisenhower Republican. Hillary Clinton is also a phony Democrat who is Republican-lite.

If you want ot know what is really wrong with the Republicans you have to see what is wrong with the Democrats. If you think the Republicans are wrong and the Democrats are right, then you have bought into the mirror image of the same propaganda that the Republicans sell to their grassroots.

The three “front runner” Democratic candidates are against withdrawl of troops from Iraq. All three said they would not even promise to have the troops out in their first term if elected. None spoke against the military bases being established in Iraq.  That should give you a clue what is wrong. The Democrats don’t believe in the national soverignty of other nations any more than the Republicans do, they just package the vassalage with a prettier wrapping and ribbon.

  3. sort of related Kid Oakland.

I was surprised that Kid Oakland could not defend the French Revolution.

Separating the Terror from it is easy as pie.

More importantly, what of the preexisting terror that was France before the French Revolution?

Imagine our world without the French Revolution?

Anyway, he mentioned Brooks so I came in on that sliver.

  4. that i basically agree with cole.

brooks does a real purty tap-dance, ignoring who profits from the bastardizations of conservatism he describes.  he waaay oversimplified in the most complimentary way possible.  id like to lick my finger and smear it on his glasses.

im not very conservative, but ive never really feared true conservatism.  id actually like to see it in action some time, to get a feel for what it’d be really like.  but that’s not going to happen…

Seriously- what does the current Republican party stand for?

Permanent war, fear, the nanny state, big spending, torture, execution on demand, complete paranoia regarding the media, control over your body, denial of evolution and outright rejection of science, AND ZOMG THEY ARE GONNA MAKE US WEAR BURKHAS, all the while demanding that in order to be a good American I have to spend most of every damned day condemning half my fellow Americans as terrorist appeasers.

  5. thanks!
