TheManWithNoPoint is Dead…Long Live TheManWithAPoint…

Hello World, TheManWithAPoint here, formerly known as  TheManWithNoPoint.

I’ve changed a few things in the few days of my absence from the progressive blogs, and I’ll just explain a few things here, I’m still not mentally ready to return, but why not explain a few things before I do?

1. The Great Canadian Take-Down – As many of you know, the progressive blogosphere got together last week and put the beat-down on The Toronto Sun and its putrid resident Ann Coulterite Rachel Marsden…well, they canned her within a couple of days, and she gave TheManWithNoPoint all the credit for it…I’ll take it, Rachel, and thank you very much for making me bigger than I ever could have dreamt of being (end snark)

flip

Well, that led me to some soul-searching, and after realizing how effective organized bloggers can be, I decided to put an end to the ranting, bipolar TheManWithNoPoint…

I think I am articulate enough to get my points across now, without four-letter words and vitriolic hair-on-fire screaming from the balconies…as TheManWithAPoint, I’m going to blog responsibly, coherently, and without the salty language of my former alter-ego…basically, a living-room version of TMWNP…

I think I can make more effective use of my logic and reasoning if my language and tone don’t turn off people who would otherwise agree…

2. Why I left Daily Kos – It isn’t really complicated.  I’m not going to slam Dkos as someone who has been banned. I wasn’t banned, I left that site when the Democratic Party joined the Republican Party in proclaiming to the world that American is now officially a nation that tortures.

That, I cannot accept, ever, from anyone, any nation, any party.  I now view the Democratic Party of America as an enemy of its freedom-seeking poeple, and of the free world.

Civilized nations do not torture.  There was an incident in the Canadian military that shocked and shattered my view of Canada, back in the ’90’s…and I applauded the disbanding the legendary Canadian Air-Borne Regiment over this crime.  I was an army cadet, and have had personal contact with both the RCR’s (Royal Canadian Rangers) and the paratroop Air-Borne Regiment, and this incident was a black stain upon all Canada’s military.

Good…  Canada doesn’t torture, and any Canadian who does will be brought to justice, or I will find another nation to call home.  It’s that simple to me.

And Daily Kos is a platform, now, for electing more people who will join the criminals already in the halls of power.  When the Democratic Party approved Mukasey’s appointment, they joined George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld and the Republican Party as war criminals.  It’s that simple, to me…

3. None of the Above – So, you have four (4) Democratic Presidential candidates who are currently Senators.  Sitting Senators. With full voting and filibustering powers…

Question: Who, of those four, Should Be the Next Democratic President?

Possible Answer: If America is a War-Crimes Nation, who really cares?

Answer II : If one must be chosen, choose the One Who Voted Against Mukasey.

Oh, none of the four voted against him or even bothered to show up at the vote?

The Real Answer: NONE OF THE ABOVE.

Be good to each other, see you soon on the other side…

Glad she gave you the credit you deserve!  And here we thought we were just teasing you giving you ALL the credit!  I hope your new style includes your usual humor.

I told you so, but sometimes I take great pleasure in being right!

    I told you so!

Glad you made the “change” maaaaan!

  2. change was definitely in order.  ðŸ˜‰

Kudos to you for your mighty tongue and A Point!

  3. idealogy, experience and transformation – all of which are very hard on a human being. At The Kos I was known as NotImportant..left for the exact reason as you..only you are far far more articulate…came here…….took a break. Decided my name and manner both needed to reflect a stronger and frankly more mature attitude towards confronting change and what it will take to usher it in. I am just getting to know you and I have to say its a pleasure.

  4. Here’s wishing you well defining yourself for yourself, minus labels.  This seems like a healthy turning point for you.

I left information for you on your previous diary.  I don’t know if you saw it but am curious for your take on it.

From its photo page, near the bottom… “Just for fun (bottom…third from right)” Do Rachel, Michelle Malkin and Anne Coulter fight over the guy at some WWW “smackdown” or something?

Excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth.

But then I saw the “promo photo” on the bottom row (which looks like a bad out-take from “Rachel Does Dallas”) and threw up in my cat’s mouth. (And he’s none too happy ’bout that, let me tell you)

    The undeserved vanity is excruciating.

And I respect your leaving DKos. I often think of doing the same, and only continue to post there to reach what audience lingers or lurks there, and to whom I can educate.

Your assertion re the purity of Canada not torturing is not true, unfortunately. I know they protested Arar, and they’ve taken some good stands. But Canadian history shows plenty of collaboration with the CIA, and with the development of torture techniques with both U.S. and British governments. They also were involved in developing biological warfare instruments, and were even more hawkish than the U.S. in wanting to use them. Of course, the latter was over 50 years ago, so you may find the contentions to be a bit dated.

I often have thought of moving to Canada. Still do.

Best of luck in your new persona! Your stand at DKos gains you my nomination of Mensch of the Year!

  5. DKos and the torture issue.  I haven’t been happy with some DKos bannings and organized leavings either and I’ll just be very honest and say that Armando leaving DKos chapped my butt to the point I have calluses 😉  Armando continues to challenge certain mass acceptances at DK now in pointed and specific ways and I think it is a terrific.  We are all teachers and all students and I often have a hard time remembering that every day right now.  I don’t spend much time at DK though.  Most of my blogging and blog reading is usually done here and then I go hit the frontpage and the rec list there if time allows.
