Fight!

The next time I see a Repug attack dog on Faux Noise or on the MSM tagging a Democratic candidate as Liberal, Liberal, Liberal, I want to see MY candidate aggressively attack back.

“That’s right I AM A LIBERAL!

  • Conservatives believe it’s perfectly ok for the rich to get richer while the poor get poorer!
  • Conservatives don’t care that the middle class in America is shrinking!
  • Conservatives want to give the Richest 1% Tax Cuts while our military struggles to buy more up armored humvees!
  • Conservatives want to privatize social security instead of raising the withholding cap for people who earn more than 100 Grand a year!
  • Conservatives don’t care that the deficit has doubled under their watch!
  • Conservatives want Paris Hilton not to pay any taxes on the money she earns from her parents death!
  • Conservatives don’t want evolution taught in public schools!
  • Conservatives don’t want stem cell research done on frozen embryos, even if they are going to be thrown out anyway!
  • Conservatives don’t want teenagers to know about or to have access to birth control!
  • Conservatives are offended when they hear a phone message giving them an option for a second language!
  • Conservatives are afraid their kids will become gay if gay marriage becomes legal and accepted!
  • Conservatives believe water boarding isn’t torture as long as they’re not on the receiving end!
  • Conservatives believe we should occupy Iraq indefinitely!
  • Conservatives believe we should ‘stay on offense’ on the so called war on terror, and that we should threaten to invade or nuke any country whose leaders don’t like us!
  • Conservatives believe we can just kill everyone who hates us!
  • Conservatives believe anyone who thinks President Bush is an idiot, hates America!

That’s right, you nailed me!  I AM A LIBERAL!”

It makes me nuts that our candidates are afraid of the L word.  Especially since the Conservatives have been such screw ups.  All we have to do is point out their record.  When they try to duck it and shift blame we need to hit them with “I thought your party was supposed to be the party of personal responsibility, take some!”

I know I’m just fantasizing but wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had a candidate that would actually fight?  Their candidates are falling all over each other to claim they are more Conservative than the other.  While our candidates and the MSM think being labeled a Liberal is bad?

will we have a candidate, for that matter a party, who will fight

  1. Thanks, BobbyK.

  2. will bite the hand that feeds them? Liberals are extremists to their real constituency, the big money and their global pillaging. Easier to get the votes of the fearful who think this new/old order is just the way the world is, they call it political reality. Witness the blackout of Edwards, Kucinich or any other who tries to make a dent on the status quo, even the rank and file regard them as trouble makers who are going to lose the election for us. Perhaps political fictions would collapse if we unplugged the matrix.

It’s about time the Dems “political reality” was given one of those, what do you call them, a reality check.  When was the last time the Dems delivered for the people they are supposed to represent?

The point is that, at best, we are a rabble and a minority rabble to be sure. To fight you have to be a warrior and train and drill and be ready to march and give it up to something greater than yourself. Passion is not enought, in fact is counter-productive–you’ll be mowed down by the virtual automatic weapons the enemy posseses. And if that fails actual automatic weapons.

They are afraid of the L word because they know who has power and who doesn’t–what else can they do? They won’t even give straight out facts and two of them always come to mind. One, Europeans and others have 5-6 weeks paid vacations for (nearly) everyone no matter when they were hired or their job descriptions–that is law in most countries or used to be up until a few years ago. Two, the U.S. spends nearly twice as much for medical care while leaving large numbers of people completely uncovered (compare mortality statistics sometimes) as do the average OECD country. These are very real and easy to understand facts. So why do no candidates say that clearly? Why don’t newspapers report it? Whenever there’s a discussion of health care the fact that efficient and effective dispensation of health-care has already been invented–there is no possible rational argument in support of our system but one—and that is to encourage people to stay away from our system which may be a good idea.

My point is that, knowing this, we still sit as spectators and complain on blogs, give money to pols and write letters to Congress (a waste of time BTW unless very carefully organized and targetted). Fighting means, well, being a fighting force not a rabble.

but candidates are not stupid. They know that a few trumped up incidents here and there, some “attack” or perceived threat can be created and the American people will be howling for blood as they did after 9/11. Sorry they/we are a rabble because they have not realized that everything on the MSM is  propaganda. If the MSM says so then Iranian leaders are “crazy” because they will broadcast that day in and day out. Yes, after a while many more people (still a minority) are realizing they are having the wool pulled over their eyes but in fact they are pulling the wool over their own eyes most of the time by not connecting the dots and finding a new mythical framework to hook into. Politicians are “machines” that measure political power–they reflect, in our system, rather than lead. It is important to understand that. That is why none of them will tell the truth about health-care or any of the couple of dozen issues that are highly constrained to acceptable areas of “discourse” that are extremely narrow and never include any kind of rational discourse because powerful forces won’t allow it. You can’t get away from the power of the system that is now far more robust than it’s ever been–people may grumble here and there but so what? Few go further to analyze power. Workers vote for Hilary not Edwards who actually represents their interests–why is that? That’s what happened in New Hampshire. There is a reason for that that has to do with the cultural dynamics of the lower-middle class who love order and authority figures and are fundamentally hostile to any kind of change even if it benefits them.
