Meet Ron Paul supporter, tea party organizer, Idaho GOP official and now facing felony charges Challiss McAffee.

Idaho resident Challiss McAffee has been “charged with felony aggravated assault after police say he pulled a handgun on a resident whose home he told police he was photographing as part of a foreclosure investigation.” When the resident began questioning McAffee about what he was doing, the confrontation escalated, culminating in McAffee brandishing his gun. McAffee is a member of the Ada County Republican Central Committee and “one of 231 voting members of the state Republican Central Committee.”

More batshit and paranoid wingnut delusions below the fold.

Some familiar with esoteric Idaho politics may remember Challiss McAffee as the leader of a parlimaentary coup that overthrew  the previous Idaho GOP chairman, who held the false view that Government is not thestarting point of all things evil.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Republican Party leader who helped oust the state GOP chairman in 2008 faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an altercation escalated while he photographed a home with a delinquent mortgage.

Challis McAffee, 33, the GOP chairman from the Boise suburb of Garden City and one of 231 voting members of the Idaho Republican Central Committee, was in Ada County jail after being accused of pointing a gun at the homeowner.

McAffee works for a contractor hired by Wells Fargo & Co. to document the condition of homes where mortgages are past due or in foreclosure. A Wells Fargo spokesman condemned McAffee’s behavior, calling it “horrific and absolutely inexcusable.”

When your Republican Central Committee member is a Ron Paul supporting, tea party organizing gun waving loon who lives in Idaho and fears a New World Order, you my firend, are a redneck.

    Here is your card.

McAffee, a backer of libertarian-leaning former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul and an activist in this year’s anti-big-government “Tea Party” protests, helped organize Paul backers who aligned at last June’s Idaho State Republican Convention in Sandpoint with other foes of then-state GOP Chairman Kirk Sullivan. Sullivan was voted from office in favor of Norm Semanko.

According to police in the Boise suburb of Meridian, resident Robert Lutes called officers just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to report McAffee had pointed a .357 Magnum handgun at him during a verbal confrontation. McAffee acknowledged he pointed the gun at Lutes, according to the police account.

“I’m unarmed, I’m an old man,” Lutes, 51, told The Associated Press on Thursday. “I’m trying to find out why he’s taking pictures of my house. I said, ‘Knock on my door, let me know what you want.’ Then, I think he’s reaching for his business card and he pulls out a concealed weapon and I think he’s going to blow my head off.”

Now how else is a paranoid Ron Paul supporting New World Order fearing gun toting loon supposed to make his point without waving a gun in your face.

That gun on your hip is the new summer fashion, and is all the rage at your local militia training camp.

I think it is safe to say that the GOP has fully co-opted the paranoid delusions of the Ron Paul/Alex Jones crowd.

The funniest part of this nonsense is the irony of a Republican/Libertarian who fears government intrusion photographing another citizens property, and then threatening them with violence when they use their First Amendment rights to object to Government intrusion of their private property.

Next thing you know, the Libertarians and Republicans will be demanding their rights back after Bush took them away by blaming Democratic President Obama for it while calling him a fascist.

I am running out of snark, and we still have at least 3 and a half years left, and hopefully much, much more.

No. That would never happen. That would just be crazy.

  2. a long hot summer and an longer 3 years.

On the other hand, it is kind of entertaining….as long as no one gets hurt.

  3. I am getting so desensitized to the full frontal insanity, that I am more surprised when I open a political blog or news site and don’t see a story like this.

  4. and I’m a psychopath.

    “Hi Challis!”

Challis was not acting in a governmental capacity when he was photographing Lutes’s house.  Wells Fargo and its contractors are not government entities.  This is not a First Amendment issue.  It’s purely a criminal issue.

The First Amendment only applies when government representatives are attempting to quash the rights protected by it.  It has nothing to do with the private sector or personal matters.
