Keep it stupid, simple. Jon Stewart exposes Sen. Grassley as flat out screwing with us on HCR

Honestly, this is just flat out pathetic.

Cardboard caricatures of “Sir Tax a lot” and “The Debt and Deficit Dragon”, ala Senate Republicans and Ranking Senate Finance Committee member Chuck Grassley are not only ridiculous but is a slap in the face of every American who takes health care reform dead serious. Further, it is proof to three facts that are undeniable at this point.

1.     Bi-partisanship with the Republican party is NOT to be taken seriously anymore, if it ever was to begin with.

2.     Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus and Sen. Grassely are flat out jerking us around.

3.     If Health Care Reform fails, or is FUBAR, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid should be the one who suffers our wrath.

More below the fold, and a call to action.

Senator Grassley has, from the beginning of the Health Care reform debate, brought nothing to the table. Indeed Senator Grassley’s vested interest, and the GOP’s, has been to watch America crumble so they can turn around in 2010 and 2012 and say ” The Democrats and Obama failed, just like we told you so. Now vote for us.”

I mean, it’s not like the GOP doesn’t promote the need to kill health care reform on their own RNC website.

Bipartisanship is worthless when one of the parties engaged has one goal and one goal alone, the failure of the other party at all costs.

The only people who either don’t get this or are completely aware but purposefully working to destroy health care reform and to undermine it until it is worthless are Senator Max Baucus and any other Democrat who crows the praises of what I shall now refer to as “Bifuckingyousanship”

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com          While one side is working in good faith to present a quality Health Care Reform bill the other, obstructionist side is making high school science fair signs and using up valuable time on the Senate floor at the tax payers expense, in a childish and ludicrous attempt to scare the bejeezus out of the simple minded, for whom colorful picture charts seem to work. I can only wonder when the charts will begin to have Pop-Up book features.

And these are the guys who want to take control of the Senate again.

But worse still is the Vichy Senate Leadership that allows this nonsense to go on. Even yesterday after the President’s birthday lunch with the Senate, the first words to ememrge from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s lips were “Bipartisanship”, which, in this political climate breaks down along this simple and easy to understand equation.

(IDEA + NO! = FUBAR LEGISLATION)

So, here is my respectful response to our esteemed leader of the Senate, Harry Reid. I have hand written this message and will be sending it in the mail each and every day until the passage of meaningful and effective health care reform with a robust public option.

To the esteemed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,

As the leader of the majority party in the U.S. Senate, I shall be holding you personally accountable for the success or failure of the Senate in delivering meaningful health care reform with a robust public option.

Leadership is not only a priveledge, it comes with consequences.

Therefore, should the Senate fail to deliver this meaningful reform because of the obstructionist corruption on the part of Senate Finance Committee members Baucus and Grassley, it is YOU whom I and the American electorate will hold accountable. If it succeeds the credit will go chiefly to you, but if it fails the blame and wrath of over 70% of America will be yours, Mr. Senator, and your alone.

Hence, you shall be warned that I and many others will no longer support you in your bid for re election. We will not campaign for you or donate to you, and I for one will make it my one purpose in the upcoming election to convince the voters of Nevada to dump you in a primary or to vote for your Republican opponent.

I have NO problem replacing the disgraced Senator Ensign with a Democrat and You with a Democrat or Republican, should health care reform fail or pass in a meaningless fake refrom bill.

I and the American people overwhelming wantt REAL health care reform and a public option to offset the corrupt monopoly that is guilty of Murder by Spreadsheet. If you are incapable of getting it for us We The People WILL find another leader who can.

   Respectfully yours,

   MoT ———

I encourage you, and We The People, to do the same.

    E-Mail at reid.senate.gov

I hope we can leave a pile of letters on Senator Reid’s desk, so that when he comes back from his vacation while his constituents die, he can acrry the weight of our anger as easily as he can carry excuses for his incompetence.

I have had enough of “bifuckingyousanship” with the Party of “I hope he fails”.

It is time that we let these Vichy Senators know exactly what is at stake for them, should they fail at this task. There is something to be said for encouraging and negotiating with extremists. This is one of those instances. I personally feel that it would be politically beneficial to kill a fake reform bill rather than to pass one for the sake of passing something. If we kill a fake health care reform bill we can then lay the blame at the feet of this absurd and obstructionist GOP, we can styick a dagger in the heart of further “Bifuckingyousanship”, and we can use this as a way to get rid of the Vichy Dem caucus that insists on “Bifuckingyousanship” with the party of “I hope he/America fails”

And if Health Care reform fails, we should unleash our full and white hot wrath on the re-election campaign of one Senator Harry Reid.

  1. Anyone remember how involved Harry Reid was with Jack Abramoff?

If Health Care Reform fails in the senate, Harry Reid should be target #1 to lose in 2010, no matter what the costs.

That’s what people haven’t figured out yet.  The Repubs are only serving as a “court jester” role right now, a way to shimmy the Overton Window into a “stuck” position so that it can’t be moved to the left.

Because as long as these nutjobs are allowed to get on the TV, Obama actually looks like a progressive by comparison.

The Blue Dogs are the new Repubs, the ones who actually are assuming the role of the “old school” repubs.

Nothing’s changed.   The real power structure remains the same, and the Kabuki theater continues.  We are ruled by the Corporatocracy, and everything else is theater and “divide and conquer” con games.

sending emails and letters….doing my part like the rest of you. You’ve hit on the one crucial difference between what I’ve done in the past and how I’m approaching this issue.

I’m making a point to to tell congresscritters and their staffers that I’ll do everything within my power to make sure they’re NOT re elected if they fail to pass meaningful health care reform.

We’re past the point of bipartisanship.

  2. … is oversimplistic, ignoring all the nuance and details and personalizing a complex story of corporate greed and deceit.

In other words, exactly the kind of thing that can actually work in our severely screwed up political system. Go for it.
