The Road Not Taken

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

Can this actually be happening?

Are Democrats who’ve been riddled with RePug bullets for 30 years finally Bringing a Gun To a Gunfight ? ? ?

House Democrats are probing the nation’s largest insurance companies for lavish spending, demanding reams of compensation data and schedules of retreats and conferences. Letters sent to 52 insurance companies by Democratic leaders demand extensive documents for an examination of ‘extensive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry.” The letters set a deadline of Sept. 14 for the documents.

When asked for comment, an insurance industry spokesman mackerel pulled three hooks out of his mouth, bled all over the place, and said: “This is nothing more than a taxpayer-funded fishing expedition designed to silence health plans.”

The Tide Is Turning . . .

ActBlue has raised more than $150,000 in only 24 hours for progressive Democrats who took the pledge to not vote for any bill without a public option. House Democrats expressed strong support for the public option in their weekly caucus meeting, with everyone in support of it because their constituents had pressed them on it.   Labor is warning Democrats that they’ll sit out specific elections if any members oppose a public plan.

emanuel Pictures, Images and PhotosSOMEONE’S fucking stupidity has turned an electoral mandate for change into a RePug/Blue Dog ass kissing festival.  If that fucking stupidity doesn’t come to a screeching halt, support for “Democrats” is going to come to a screeching halt.

I’m going to explain this to you, Rahm.

It’s called democracy.

It’s called telling your barking Blue Dogs to shut the fuck up.

It’s called taking the Democratic Party back.

Get used to it.

Vital Energy . . .

There’s a vital energy to the debate now that was simply missing when Obama was offering vague principles and playing an inside game trying to frame health care reform as entitlement reform.  And it’s actually doing more to get a health care bill passed than anything the White House has done all year.

The White House did something to get real health care reform passed?

When?

All I’ve seen are the asses of corrupt and arrogant RePug/Blue Dog liars being kissed every damn day by Barack and Rahm and every other “Democrat” we put in that White House with our fundraising and our phonebanking and our votes.

I don’t know how this fight for real healthcare reform will end, but I know this much: progressives will never stop fighting for social justice, we will never stop speaking truth to power.

JFK once said, “When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man’s concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence.  When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.”

Progressives are poets, our essays and calls for justice are our poetry, our belief in the power of idealism is our poetry, our vital energy is our poetry.  We are the poets of this age, we are the Maya Angelous, we are the Robert Frosts.  We will not be silent while America travels down this corporate road to destruction, we are going to keep telling America that there’s another road in sight, a better road, a road not traveled, a road that must be traveled if we are to ever leave war and injustice behind.

That road leads to progressive democracy, that road leads to the destination the Founding Fathers meant for us, that road leads to social justice, it leads to peace, it leads to a future where government of the people, by the people, and for the people will be a reality, not just faded words in a speech.

The road of war and oppression is a dead end road.  It’s time to travel the road not taken, America, it’s time to leave the lies and greed and corruption behind, it’s time to quit behaving like children, it’s time to start behaving like adults, it’s time to grow up.

And it has nothing to do with us being a wee bit stubborn.  ðŸ˜‰  We will make this a better world.

a new Chief of Staff, Mr. Obama.

It’s going to be awfully hard to be fast enough on your feet with a ball and chain shackled to your ankle to not drown in the next wave…

  2. He promised transparency via cspan then struck deals with big pharma and others. He then classified the WH visitor logs and when outed refused to disclose any details of the deals.

I am sure this was on the advise of his handlers who knew the back stabbing money grabbing ways of the beltway crowd. However to me and I suspect to progressives in general, this comes across as a bald faced lie and that I cannot tolerate.

Had he said I need to do this to get the lay of the land, I could accept that. The way it was done leaves me suspect and I think this will be revisited in 2012.

  3. Great essay, & cool writing.

It`s full of heart & soul.

He is not part of the solution. The solution lies within us. Nowhere else. Be the change. Write, call, e-mail, donate, demonstrate. Clog up the works. Throw those old sabots into the machine.

  4. …and GOP’er/Blue Cross Dog Media Mis-information Tour needs to come to an end soon, or 2010 might not be such a good year for the Dem “majority”.

It’s time for the Dems to understand that the “left of the left” aren’t their flunkies, and aren’t going to go silently into this goodnight just to make life, lying, and lobbyist-obeying easier for the Republican Doormat Dems.
