AG Holder prosecutes ACORN! WTF? War Criminals, Corporate Crime, not so much

(11AM EST – promoted by Nightprowlkitty)

War Crimes of the Bush/Cheney era? Nah. Rampant Corporate crime on Wall St? Meh. The deaths of 11 workers on an exploding oil rig in the Gulf due to probably criminal negligence and the worst enviro-disaster in US history? Boor-ing. Oooh, ACORN? Now we are talking!

Obama’s Attorney General continues to vigorously prosecute Acorn? Will Van Jones be Next?

The Attorney General’s office refuses to explain to ACORN’s attorneys why it continues to vigorously prosecute this case. In fact, the government’s attorneys refuse talk to ACORN’s attorneys other than on matters of procedure.

If only BP or Goldman Sachs had attempted the heinous crime of helping register poor minorities to vote, then maybe AG Holder would do something about them.

WTF?

More kabuki below the fold.

Ever get the feeling that Democrats are losing on purpose? Like they aren’t just spineless, but they are throwing the fight? When I look at the attention Dems gave to ACORN and the attention they refuse to pay to the corporate disasters on Wall St, our insane energy policy or our war criminal driven foreign policy from 2000-2008, I get that feeling.

And guess what, all the Too Big To Fail Banks saw their stocks go UP today after the fake reform of Dodd-Frank came together, so no, the Corporate Disaster on Wall St has NOT been dealt, and probably won’t be seriously until at least the next bubble and clusterfuck cycle.

But silly me, that stuff is boor-ing. Corporate crimes that crash ecosystems and economies are dull, hardly the stuff a US attorney general would be interested in. Tell me more about this ACORN scandal!

You might remember a few months back how our idiot congress passed an unconstitutional bill of attainder in a senseless act of bipartisanship that resulted in the end of ACORN? That ruthless organization of election stealing radicals as they are described on the right, or, as they are known in reality, “an organization that helps average Americans going through hard times to get homes, pay their taxes, and vote.”

How dare the Attorney General of the USA let ACORN get away with this.

The sheer idiocy of this is unreal.

As Attorney Darius Charney of the Center for Constitutional Rights states.

CCR Attorney Darius Charney said, “We are used to seeing political grandstanding in Congress, but when it crosses the line into violating the Constitution, it has to stop. Big banks, pharmaceutical companies, and private government contractors that have skirted the law are rewarded with bailouts, tax credits, and billions of dollars in new contracts. Even BP is getting our tax dollars. Companies with multiple criminal convictions remain in favor, while Congress, without a shred of due process, joined in the scapegoating of  Who’s next?”

Obama’s Attorney General continues to vigorously prosecute Acorn? Will Van Jones be Next?

I would call this era of Corporate negligence and white collar crime a pretty “target rich” environment for an attorney general who gives a shit about the death of 11 oil rig workers, the death of 29 coal miners, the largest environmental disaster in US history, the crooks on Wall St who tanked our economy by selling America “shitty deals” while raking in huge salaries, and so on, and so forth.

Oh, and torture related WAR CRIMES committed during the Bush/Cheney years. Can’t forget about those, no matter how hard our politicians and pundits try.

Nevermind that ACORN has been exonerated over and over. Nevermind that the “crimes” ACORN has been accused of pale in comparison to what Wall St, BP and other oil companies, health insurers, and other big businesses get away with on a daily basis. ACORN was stripped of their funding in an unconstitutional, knee jerk reaction by Scandal mongering, reality deprived conservatives and the gutless, spineless cowards in the Democratic party who ALWAYS fold when the GOP puts their weight on them, but in reality, the money ACORN got from Washington for funding is a drop in the ocean compared to the subsidies we pay BP right now the huge profits they make, or the bailouts we gave Wall St just so they could NOT lend to small businesses and instead pay out their bonuses and huge CEO salaries, cause without that, the economy is certainly doomed.

Nevermind all that, the AG office is intent on doing the important dirty work in scourging the ACORN strawman from the face of America. Nevermind all the Corporate crimes and war crimes of the past decade. AG Holder has importantish work to pretend to do, like massive crimes that crash the economy, wreck our ecosystem and drive us into wars based on lies in Iraq.

Maybe that lack of Democratic voter enthusiasm has something to do with the urgent need Democrats always feel to punch hippies and their own allies whenever Conservatives screech loud enough.

The argument comes on the heels of a June 15 preliminary probe by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) of ACORN. Known as the government watchdog, the GAO found no evidence the association or related organizations mishandled the $40 million in federal money they received in recent years.

I guess AG holder’s real job is to make himself look busy while doing everything he can to ignore the corporate crimes that are so obviously going on around him, crimes that trash our economy, kill energy sector employees and lead to War Crimes.

And political experts within the Democratic party wonder “Oh, why, oh why are Democratic voters lacking in enthusiasm?”

Maybe AG Holder SHOULD prosecute Van Jones next? Maybe that’ll get those Dems to feel “Fired Up, and Ready To Go” vote for the Democrats who keep punching the Democratic base while playing pattycake with sociopathic conservatives while major, non ACORN related crimes are happening everywhere you look.

Actually, forget that bit about prosecuting Van Jones. I don’t want to give AG holder any new ideas, because, clearly, he has too much time on his hands, what with ignoring all those REAL crimes out there. The fun part of beating up a strawman is that the strawman can’t tell you what an idiot you look like.

So, here is my suggestion for AG Holder. RESIGN. If you are so blind in your functions as the nations top law enforcer that ACORN is your biggest concern in this day and age, you are not fit for your office. If you are not that blind, but just prefer chase windmills so you can ignore real crimes that harm America then we really are screwed, aren’t we?

But while we fight Vietnamistan, while Wall St banks get bigger and fatter and more capable of tanking the whole world economy than every before, and while the energy sector destroys our nation for profits and can’t be bothered with safety and nonsense like that, while we drown in unemployment, debt and oil, at least we won’t have to worry about ACORN anymore. And that is change of a sort, isn’t it?

Punch those hippies! Water down that reform! Pander to those conservatives who WILL NEVER VOTE FOR YOU! Ignore major crimes, fight strawmen!

Change? I didn’t realize change meant that Democrats were going to become Republicans circa 1994, and Republicans were going to become Democrats circa 1871.

But at least he is better than Alberto Gonzalez? Right? Right!

Crickets

You know, if we are going to fiddle while Rome burns, lets at least get some good music in here.

I don’t recall ACORN being worse than War Crimes or Corporate crimes, do you?

  1. …. but if they want to continue to be the third term of the Bush administration, they are going to get the 2st term of the 1st term of the Clinton administration’s Congress.

Time to “Duck and Cover”. It’s all over now, baby red, white and blue.

  2. When a few people might speak out about one atrocity or another, massive corruption and or gross unlawful behavior a couple of people might have to get wacked so to speak.

    Otherwise it’s globo-corpo-techno-fascism at it’s finest hour.
