Where socialism was in the air

http://socialistworker.org/201…

This was quite the conference (I attended…YAY).  As always, Haymarket Books ( http://www.haymarketbooks.org/ ) had their bookstore open (I bought 10 books and 4 DVDs), and they have many good titles you should look up.

Wearemany.org ( http://wearemany.org ) already has some of the talks up for your edification!

If you haven’t been to a Socialism conference before, I would say go if you get the chance.  You can keep up to date at http://www.socialismconference… to see when next year’s conference is scheduled (usually announced Feb or March and held in June or early July).

Stuff

Cross posted from The Stars Hollow Gazette

Republished from our first day on line.

I have stuff. Lots of stuff and not just the tangible kind that you can put your hands on and touch. When I suggested to ek hornbeck that we start this site and began working on diaries that I should write to help fill the pages as we attract readers and participants here, I began by looking at some of the “stuff” in my bookmarks and went WOW, I need to “clean” out all this stuff. Then I said “Wait, I  now have a place to put this “stuff” that I am about to “delete” forever into the infinity of cyberspace”.

Health and Fitness News

Welcome to the Health and Fitness weekly diary which is cross-posted from The Stars Hollow Gazette. It is open for discussion about health related issues including diet, exercise, health and health care issues, as well as, tips on what you can do when there is a medical emergency. Also an opportunity to share and exchange your favorite healthy recipes.

Questions are encouraged and I will answer to the best of my ability. If I can’t, I will try to steer you in the right direction. Naturally, I cannot give individual medical advice for personal health issues. I can give you information about medical conditions and the current treatments available.

You can now find past Health and Fitness News diaries here and on the right hand side of the Front Page.

Pâtés, Minus the Geese

Photobucket

A great way to work more beans into your diet, this week’s pâtés work as spreads on whole-grain bread or crackers. They slice up nicely, too, so you can serve them alongside a salad or vegetable dish. Unmold them from the tureens, if you wish, and reshape them on plates or in bowls with garnishes.

White Bean Pâté

This vegetarian pate has been a Martha Rose Shulman signature dish for decades.

Black Bean Pâté

This tastes like a very light version of refried beans.

Red Bean and Pepper Pâté

Spiced with paprika and cayenne and added red peppers for a Cajun twist.

Lentil Pâté With Cumin and Turmeric

Lentils and curry flavors go together beautifully.

Edamame Pâté

The addition of Marmite or Savorex, yeast extracts with an intense taste, give this vegetarian pâté a meaty flavor.

‘Patriotism’ in the Tepublican Camp? Think Not!

Especially related to their elected Representatives handlers, the big money, the corporations, wall street, the banks, them at the top who have more then enough cash to control but not to invest in growth and the Countries economy for all!

This Cornyn makes a real good ‘brownshirt soldier’ for the collective, not for policy for this country but the power hungry commanders that give the orders, ask him a question you get the same answers in those very old and well practiced talking points.

Muse in the Morning

Time for a break from poetry…in order to create some art.

He thought: How difficult it is to explain yourself to yourself. Sometimes there only is, and no knowing.

Purple Chasm

I can’t be associated with Barack Obama in good conscience.

I’ve given some thought to what Armando said about re-electing Barack Obama for the sake of the Supreme Court, i.e., women’s reproductive rights.  I am a complete advocate of women’s reproductive rights.  To my mind, women quite obviously “own” pregnancy.   End of conversation.  Goodbye.  Click.

Had we carried on beyond the click, suffice it to say that when men get pregnant and carry offspring to term, and be bound to the little curtain climbers for life, then I’ll take more interest in men’s stupid f****** opinions and moral authority with respect to women’s reproductive rights.  Until then, men are hardly worthy to discuss it, AND they are genetically conflicted and selfish to boot, which has life-threatening consequences for women, both during pregnancy and not.
