Holy Crap! Castro’s back…

This is my first (albeit wee) essay on docudharma, and I don’t have too much to say, but I just saw a headline on the internet(s) saying that Castro made a (taped, anyway) appearance on Cuban National TV.

Hey, if Osama can release a tape a year from a cave in fucking Pakistan, Castro can at least show his face once in a while (note: that is NOT a comparison of Castro to Osama, though it could be argued that bush is equally inept at handling either man).

Anyway, the story’s short, so here’s the full text:

(and a link)

Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro is appearing in his first taped television interview for more than three months.

Mr Castro, 81, who looked thin but healthy, has not appeared in public since July last year when he underwent emergency intestinal surgery.

There have been no official photographs or video footage of him since 5 June.

Mr Castro spoke slowly with long pauses about a range of international topics including the strength of the dollar against the euro.

Cuban officials have insisted Mr Castro is on the road to recovery.

But the lack of images has intensified the rumours among Cuban exiles in Miami about Mr Castro’s health.

I have to say I find it hilarious that Castro, sick as he is, still has his wits about him enough to cite the fact that the US dollar is in the shitter against the Euro.  I’m sure that’ll make bush happy…especially since he’s been trying to cripple Castro economically since he entered office.
