Today is the two week anniversary of the launch of Docudharma. To date, we have sustained no actual fatalities, there have been no serious workplace injuries, no one has reported contracting any communicable diseases and as far as I know there have been no unwanted pregnancies.
So we have that going for us….which is good.
We have had some downside stuff too, of course….that comes with the territory. I have had to be more of a tough guy than I wanted, but again, no one has actually died….and any launch you can walk away from is a good one. I have also been WAY busier and thus more distracted than I hoped….that has been a big surprise. I haven’t gotten to write NEARLY as much as I have wanted, dammit! But it is a marathon not a sprint and we have time. The upside has been me not dominating the blog! This has really helped allow the community to develop and for all kinds of folks to step up and find their roles. So that is a good thing too.
We have had about twice the number of folks sign up (844!)than I anticipated in my wildest estimates, have FAR surpassed the frequency and quality of essays I expected….and have become more of a community in such a short time than I dared to dream.
As I de-stress from the launch and look around I cannot help but say…..this place is pretty fucking cool!
Thanks to ALL of you, and if you are into it, use this thread to give your impressions….and as always, complaints and criticisms are welcome!

I take all the credit.
If not for a level headed and wise person like me around who knows how this might have gone?
complaints on other blogs notwithstanding, best of luck. Two weeks feels like forever in the blogosphere, doesn’t it?
I’ll probably poke around here some, as I do all over the place.
You’ve done good.
isnt that the ’emoticon’ anniversary…i think it is…
🙂
for the month anniversary, i do it in color 😉
Happy Anniversary! The only complaint I have is that I don’t know what time 17:10:30 is. Other than that, love what you’ve done with the place.
…and aside from finding stuff for pony parties, no complaints. The stuff I’d note doesn’t really have a solution…
1. the ajax pony award thingy is not terribly responsive, I assume as an issue of load.
2. I just posted my first “real” diary (not an advance pony party) and couldn’t see how to edit or delete, once posted. I’d made a hugely embarrasing error, and that sucked (sort of ruined all the work). It’s possible I’m just flustered enough to be missing something in front of my face…
Where all is sane, people disagree without getting personal(usually!), the essays are outrageously fantastic and I’ve been made to feel Welcome!
Thank you buhdy, & everyone else here, for making this such a wonderful place to be.
hugkisses to you ALL!!
What’s this! No banner?
You mean the war isn’t over?
upon arrival. Then I heared some mad accordions and lo, I rose again.
…if I made a front page post here, I’d get my own stalker.
And if that is the case, I wish to complain that my stalker is too good at his/her job – I can’t tell if they are following me! I demand awareness of my “dangerous fascist paid agent contributing editor” status!
He would also like a girlfriend and he wants to know where all the other puppy lovers are.
I told him it might be dangerous to have that tiger over for a play date.
For letting me play in your Blog
do I owe you rent?
I’m glad I’m a part of a place where the company is cheap and the drinks are tawdry.
my fingers seem incapable of moving my cursor past the rating of 1 – Wrong! all the way to 4 – Pony!
I demand that you fix my fingers, because that’s going to get me in trouble some day.
This place feels a lot more like home than the big orange clubhouse. It is such a relief not to have to elect Democrats while improving the world.
My main suggestions, at this point, are to give more thought to the structuring of archives of related articles and provide some collaborative facilities for work in progress. Also, the markup tools for posting are very crude compared to what was available on DKos.
You are off to a great start, and I think this blog may become more important, and productive, than DKos, as it attracts those interested in pursuing progressive reform freed from legacy politics.
(stroking mustache, exhaling cig smoke)
it’d be a shame to see something not happen to it.

buhdy, i’ve commented as much previously, more than once, but again, i’m grateful and i tip my hat to you and the team you’ve assembled here.
i like what you all are doing, and where this could go.
Thank you for Docudharma, Buhdy, and thank you to everyone here for a very interesting, fun, and productive 2 weeks.
… to be at the start of something.
I feel at home here, and don’t feel that I have to watch my words, or spelling as much as at other sites. People are accepted here for who they are. And differences are celebrated, encouraged and shared.
Thank You All!
and already one hell of a great vibe.
Can someone please explain the significance of ponies and pie to me?
I will feel a lot more comfortable once I have some back-story on these 2 things.
Thanks,
When I first joined I had to give up because this site was sooooo slow loading it felt like goo on the screen.
Today it is loading just like Kos and SC which is my comparing for speed of big sites. I am getting a little box when I first sign on but I can not read what it says. Too little and too fast.
my all time quickest addiction. two weeks and I’m hooked. Thanks to all involved and it’s pretty smooth and shaping up nicely. Buhdy you were a very good at tough guy and the site emerged unscathed. I love the creativity here. Truly a free place to go.
It feels like home in more ways than one. In 04, I followed DFA to DailyKos. This place reminds me of the “old” DailyKos so it is like coming home in many ways. There are so many dkosers here; and of course, Armando, the tough guy with a big heart. It is nice to be here, where one can be anti-establishment and -anti Democratic Party- pro-Nader and not get trolled and bitched at. Then, there is OPOL. His trips through the 60s make this old, dirty, fucking hippy’s day. Last but not least, there are pony’s and tigers. Nirvana!
There seems to be some pretty interesting people hanging around here. I’m really glad I stopped by. Think I’ll stay for a while.
I like the pace–no rush.
