Wolf Update: NRDC vs. Bush Admin ad to hit airwaves [w/video]

An update to my essay here:

Bush Admin to Shoot Endangered Wolves

The NRDC has created the following ad that they will air to all 50 states:

More after the jump…

The NRDC has raised $105,000 in the last 24 hours toward a $200,000 goal.  They are calling for both more contributions and for people to email the ad to their contacts.

Here’s the link ad campaign page which has both the contribution page and the online ad.  If you click on the ad, you get the option to select a URL and/or embed that you can pass on.  And here’s the link to the petition to help stop the impending slaughter.

Background info from the first essay:

Bush Admin to Shoot Endangered Wolves

The signatures on earlier NRDC petitions helped to delay the hunt.  Now, the Bush Administration had moved to release the hunters by changing the wolves’ ratio to the surrounding animal populations as a way to bypass their endangered species designation.  The colleague who sent me this posted a warning last January with the reasons behind the Bush Admin’s decision.  The NRDC petitions delayed the outcome at that time.  Now the Bush Administration has moved the goal posts and has changed the rules of the (big) game (hunt) by reducing the numbers needed on the opposing team.

Here’s the link to the NRDC ad campaign page.  Please pass it on.

Is there anything this administration does not want to kill?  Starting with the Constitution, a verifiable voting system, the neutrality of the Dept. of Justice…not to mention, Iraqis, Iranians, and the  American military.  Now they decide wolves have become a threat…to who?  These people are pre-Neanderthals with nuclear clubs.

  3. So many battles we fought in the 1970s now need to be fought all over again–whaling, harp seal hunting, aerial gunning of wolves.  Pretty depressing.
