Funky Friday: t3h Old School Edition

I wish to apologize, funketeers, for completely funkin’ forgettin’ about this last week. Apparently, I have faults, defects and shortcomings.
But hope is in the house, as the vibes flow through.
Funk not only moves, it can remove, dig?
The desired effect is what you get when you improve your interplanetary Funksmanship.

Mo’ flow below the funkin’ fold.

Just because you’re not for real, why you wanna hurt me, girl?

I can’t help the way that I feel.

I’m so afraid of a one night deal.

These wicked women, oooooo, they just persist.

There’s not a problem that I can’t fix, cuz I can do it in the mix.

Excuse me 4 a moment, I’m in another world.

Wasn’t your charm or your action…

I need someone to be on the up-and-up with me.

What ya think…what ya feel….
(BTW, who was her band? Correct answer wins a k357r3l!)

You were all that I anticipated.

put my thumb in George Clinton’s nose after he left the stage for some audience interaction.  And then there was the show I cut some years later (Motown Live, only two seasons but one of the best shows I’ve worked on: old school new school under one tent until Universal decided it needed some sketch comedy).  When George and mates performed part of the new school was Shaquile O’Neil who had managed to turn a nursery rhyme into a rap.

  1. … I know it’s jazz.  But it’s FUNKY jazz!

  2. so, ok, yeah….i know this belongs above, but i didnt want to break the margins….

    Background on the movement.

  4. I haven’t heard it but I like their last “beat”, retro-style rap album.
