NSA Program Conceived Under Clinton

The project was described in the ATT sales division documents as calling for the construction of a facility to store and retain data gathered by the NSA from its domestic and foreign intelligence operations but was to be in actuality a duplicate ATT Network Operations Center for the use and possession of the NSA that would give the NSA direct, unlimited, unrestricted and unfettered access to all call information and internet and digital traffic on ATT’s long distance network. […]

The NSA program was initially conceived at least one year prior to 2001 but had been called off; it was reinstated within 11 days of the entry into office of defendant George W. Bush.

So, the utterly illegal NSA warrantless wiretapping was conceived under Bill Clinton’s administration, and was intended to give the NSA “direct, unlimited, unrestricted and unfettered access to all call information and internet and digital traffic on ATT’s long distance network.”  I guess we can all look forward to regaining our Constitutional rights with Hillary Clinton being the presumptive nominee in 2008.  Jiminy fucking Christmas.  Then within days of taking office, Bush starts the program seven months before 9/11, WHICH CHANGED EVERYTHING!  Nacchio gets politically prosecuted for standing up against unreasonable search, the scummy telecoms (who will never get my personal business) get quite rich off the deal at taxpayer expense, and Congress decides to grant them retroactive immunity for their lawlessness.

Honestly, what’s left to say about this country? Just fucking wow.

  1. People think I’m crazy for wanting to punish Democrats.  They only care about power.  the Constitution?  Not so much, at all.

i don’t remember seeing this many diaries from you

  2. and this was all done while 100 CIA agents investigated a blowjob.  The crux of the issue is who conceived it and worked on it.

  3. first step is to somehow get people to see beyond the politics involved, to see that they are the solution. First somehow they have to look at what really happening here and realize that it’s systemic. The whole beautifully balanced structure we were founded on has crumbled. Felled by decades of precieved self interest, which twisted us as a culture into feeding the beast of corporatism, as we fear everything and anything that threatens our entitlement. The irony to me is it’s called political reality  when it’s just fiction.

  4. That’s all I can tell you. I can also tell you that, if it is used for its sole intended purpose, it would be a good thing. Looks like the barbarians got ahold of the scroll however.
