Pony Party: it’s an OPEN THREAD

Cost of the War in Iraq

Through October 15, I plan to devote my Pony Party slots to support International Blog Action Day and its focus on our environment. Tonight, let’s get reacquainted with US PIRG, an advocate for myriad issues from media reform to net neutrality. UP PIRG has a solid record of advocacy for the planet and has great recommendations on actions we can take. Link and intro below the fold.

US PIRG, the federation of state Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs), takes on powerful interests on behalf of the American public, working to win concrete results for our health and our well-being. With a strong network of researchers, advocates, organizers and students in state capitols and population centers across the country, we stand up to powerful special interests on issues to promote clean air and water, protect open space, stop identity theft, fight political corruption, provide safe and affordable prescription drugs, and strengthen voting rights.

for some chit chat… and don’t rec the pony parties

  1. …to weird cartoons, writers I admire saying meaningless shit, and angry poets.

But I’ll electrocute vegetables if I have to.

  2. In keeping with the environmental tone of this diary, I wanted to share this 2.5 minute video and a bill introduced on Sept 25 that would outlaw the practice that you’re going to see.

I can’t believe this is still going on.

Alaska state officials have budgeted $400,000 to “educate” Alaskans on the state’s aerial hunting activities. The state is actually promoting this.

On Sept 25, Rep. George Miller introduced the Protect America’s Wildlife (PAW) that closes a loophole in federal law that Alaska has taken advantage of to allow the aerial hunting of both wolves and bears.

How in the world could ANYBODY consider that a sport?

(maybe after recent essay but before recent comments?)
Many, many Pony Party’s have wonderful content or some great comments or both and they’re gone *poof* never to be heard from again. I want a Pony Corral dammit! I want to be able to rec these pony gems and have them go to their own little corral…to be admired a bit longer…an indoor arena for the blue ribbon ponies!!

The Helen Keller Story……starring Ann Coulter.

  3. I just wanted to thank you for defending me when I was gone.    I feel really bad about the collateral damage however and hope you can see that Buhdy was simply trying to do damage control as a result of my stupid behavior.

So if you want to be upset with someone, it should really be me.

I don’t want to be the cause for a schism in this site and hope you’ll be back on soon to post more parties.

    Peace from your friend,

    nlob
