Pony Party: Procrastination

Light Emitting Pickle here to bring you the most recent open thread. First, a few words about Pickle Pony Parties:

Please do not recommend a Pony Party when you see one.  There will be another along in a few hours.

Every Monday, I wake up contemplating all the tasks I didn’t manage to complete over the last week. A few of these are large tasks that loom for weeks or months on end; these are typically work-related, but sometimes include major household chores. Most are minor tasks, but seem to multiply like fruit flies on a humid August day (speaking from experience on that one – note to self: ALWAYS rinse wine bottle – ewwwww!).

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the accumulation of all that I need to do, but I try to remind myself that life is more than a series of tubes tasks. It’s easy to focus on the minutiae; it’s harder to see the big picture. Indeed, I find it a considerable challenge to not fall into the trap of the rat race and to take one day at a time. I try to compare the relative ease of my life to others’ around the world, as a means to maintain a modicum of perspective. I’m interested to know how others feel.

So, fellow dharmatists, what do you do to stay afloat and keep perspective?
