This is Matt….or, was. Matt was the nephew of my ex-husband’s partner. Matt was 21. Matt was killed Sunday night.
I never had the opportunity to meet Matt, but my children have. I know his mother, his grandmother, and, of course, his uncle. He was well liked as well as being loved; a sweet kid and a good man.
Authorities believe 21-year-old Matthew Cherry died from suffocation after his face was covered with duct tape during the robbery. The incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday night…Police also believe the suspect stole the victim’s car. The car is described as a red, two-door 2004 Honda Civic LX with Georgia license plate 2010 ASW. (from this story)

I’m really sorry this is a bad news ‘party’….but sadly I can focus on very little else right now. I’m heartbroken for this kid, who I’m told was an absolute sweetheart, and for his family who have become a part of my extended family. My daughter went to Georgia on vacation with dad and “L” last summer, and spent a lot of time being loved and accepted into this entire lovely family. I just can’t resist the urge to ask for ANY help in solving this case.

But I’m glad it looks like they might have caught the culprit. I hope its the right guy and maybe it can help the family find closure. My heart is with them.
