MLB Playoffs
American League: Boston and Cleveland have each taken a game; the tied series continues tonight.
National League: Colorado continues their amazing streak, commanding a 3-0 series lead over Arizona, who could be eliminated tonight.

No decision has been announced regarding the future of Yankees manager Joe Torre, who was rumored to be on the block if the Yankees didn’t perform in the post-season.  Steinbrenner did announce, however, that he is passing on the day-to-day running of the team to his sons, Hank and Hal.

Brett Favre has taken sole possession of the career-interceptions-thrown record from George Blanda by throwing his 278th pick on Sunday.

The battle of the undefeateds was decided by a 48-27 trouncing of the Cowboys by the Patriots.  New England and Indianapolis are now our only remaining undefeated teams.

Add Jesse Boulerice to the list of players…err, make that Flyers to receive lengthy suspensions (25 games, in this case) for on-ice shenanigans.  Boulerice has had issues before, and should know better.

This is just unacceptable.  Yes, he and Kessler had been going at each other for most of the game to this point, but when you’re up 7-2 you have to expect the other team to get scrappy….and you have to play like a winner and not retaliate…

I know it seems like I’m only reporting Flyers’ news….it isn’t intentional…it’s just that they’re the ones making news.  And all negative, so far….

England and South Africa advance to Saturday’s gold medal match.  Argentina and France play Friday for the bronze.

Josh Lewsey suffered a torn hamstring and will not compete for England in Saturday’s final; no replacement has been named yet.

  1. cleveland is up 4-0 in the 6th (theyre home)

  2. Did you see his two 70 yard runs against the Bears?  He had over 220 yards  rushing in his 5th NFL game, and he wasn’t even a starter.  He also ran back a kickoff to put the Vikings in position to kick the winning field goal.

Does he remind anyone of Jim Brown?  I have been watching football for a long time and haven’t seen anyone dominate like this in the past 30 years.

Is it too soon to be making these kinds of comments?

seduced by Zeus or summat wasn’t she – and all sorts of other stuff.

That try of Josh’s in the 2nd minute at Stade de France was so important. If you can watch on Saturday do. It will not be a pretty game, but I have a feeling you’ll remember it.

w/i the 25 in the Sports Illustrated poll this week.

  5. I subscribe to Major League Baseball GameDay audio, and IMO it’s the best pay-for-content deal on the web: access to every radio feed for every major league game, including playoffs, for $15 per season.

The best part about is, because you get very feed, you can switch between different radio teams during the game, which I’ve been doing relentlessly this playoff season.

My take on the teams’ announcers during this year’s playoffs:

Boston has been a little cocky.

The New York radio team stinks.

    Cleveland Rocks.

In the National League, the Rockies radio guys are solid, and with each Colorado win sound more and more surprised at the amazing run their team is on.

    Who can blame them?
