  1. I have to go out and find a standing rib roast for dinner tomorrow and the only damn place I have seen them is Costco. None of the regular grocery stores around here seem to have them. I need to buy some wine and my underwear is looking sad but I just can’t face going into a mall.

I do most of my shopping on line and have for the last few years. The last time I went to a mall was in August when my dad and his wife came down. I will have to go at some point to pick out and angel tree gift.

Other than that tackle housework and do some kind of exercise.

that I have NEVER gone shopping on Black Friday.

I’m not much of a shopper anyway, and I especially detest shopping in herds.  The only place I’m spending my money today is at my local health food store.

I do not go shopping today- at all.

I’ve actually done all my shopping. This is the first year I’m not buying gifts…the kids are grown & we don’t need or want anything really…I did get MrD something (really f-in cool) for his tolkein collection (30yrs in the making- not a new thing just since the movie)

so I’m only really getting for the baby… I found some cool(unpainted) train cars like letters & engine & caboose at Michaels…I’m painting on doors/windows/ppl waving/animals…and I got a buttload of old wood pieces (recycle store) that go together to make a road…I’m working on sanding them down & putting a sealer on. My husband is making a train station and some houses.

And I make lots of different christmas treats, put a few of each in plastic containers to share with the older/no family people near me.

but today….today I’m doing for me! I’m finally getting back to the project of enlarging the aviary.

without having to go out shopping or waste gas getting to the mall….Adopt a wild animal!

  2. I’m doing small patches all along the barn foundation.  It got pretty cold last night so I’m hoping it will warm up just enough for me to finish up one large gap.

    Regarding Retail:

There are two small local shops where I can find most anything for anyone.  One is an Irish shop with crystal, silver, wool garments, etc.  The other is a mishmash of country crafts, rustic items, lamps, weathervanes and porch furniture.  They are both in my county and I like keeping what money I spend in the local economy.

last night RiaD had us all over for Thanksgiving Dinner and it was an elegant but down home affair. We had a wonderful time, didn’t we Ria?

Next week is nocatz… holy moly. one never knows what will happen with him but Ria will babysit. and it will be a fun free-for-all, i’m sure!

ek will take Dec 6 (i think that’s a Thursday)… and generally, he’s okay without a babysitter, but friends dropping by would be nice…

so i’m leaving the house clean, the dog stocked up with food and treats (my neighbors watch him and he hangs out with their critters…

i’m packed. i’m half-dressed. i’m excited to go now… to my new home. holy moly for real… i’ll bring my camera, take pics so you can see the apartment now and then (we put in a bid to buy it), after i move in, paint and add my stuff, i’ll do an “after” (i’m officailly moving the first week of March)

hugs and kisses to all… pf8

  3. Cleaning house, paying bills, a bit of bookkeeping and working on a grant report.

Also, I intend to spend a good chunk of time outdoors in the yard, fixing holes (where the rain gets out) in my drip irrigation system, and setting it up for the winter not watering much schedule.

I also need to write some letters. I used to write letters quite often, but with email, my longer epistles have waned. Time to catch up with some far away friends with the hand written word with a nice pot of ginger peach tea to spur my thoughts.

Hope you all have a mellow day and weekend…
