  1. Then this weekend I have to go to the in laws. I am not keen on it but I don’t want them to notice that I semi-avoiding them which is true. It would be polite to say we have profound cultural differences and they  are living in a redneck utopia. I need to go to the store and buy a large book to bury myself in.

Last night after our delightful Christmas dinner with MILaw, BILaw, my mother and father, Mr. Metta and Metta girl and Metta boy, daughter drove us to an acquaintance’s house where he has a Christmas light display tuned into a radio frequency that coordinated the lights to four Christmas songs!  A  rain sleet mix was falling which I had hoped would turn to real Christmas snow.  The forecast calls for a slim chance of some snow tonight.

I am enjoying solitude right now and went to the Shambala Sun link from the Generosity posting.  I followed a few links around and got some spiritual inspiration.  I am most happy with the successful meal yesterday and the general good cheer.  Compared to last years holiday season this was uplifting and fun!

Mr Metta is uncharacteristically out shopping with the kids.  It’s time for a new computer and we pooled our Christmas money (plus some) for a new iMac.  He was looking forward to this time with the kids so I opted out.  No post Christmas let down here!  Let’s just say I’m contemplating the liberation of impermanence.  Ha Ha!

The other set of inlaws sent me a Maori bone carving medallion that symbolized ‘new beginnings’, that is so appropriate for me right now!

I was fairly bah humbug before the holidays because I was sick and tired.  But things came together nicely.  My sister and her fiance are supposed to make the trek over the cascades tomorrow so we will see them Friday evening.

I am looking forward to delicious leftovers for dinner and planning a low key new years evening.  The best Christmas present in many ways was the gift of time from the company I work for.  This week is a paid vacation!  I have a bathroom to paint and some curtains to sew!  The freedom from work is giving me a great deal of peace!

Happy Belated Birthday pfiore8!  It sounds like a very pleasant one!

it was the usual steady stream of non-emergencies that could wait until the clinic opened  and those true emergencies that might have been avoided if ……….It is no different than any other night except for the season. And that is my big complaint about “Christmas”. It is not just a day it is a season. I think it is sad that radio stations stop playing Christmas music as early as 6 pm on Christmas Day, that on Dec. 26 the decorations are gone from the shopping malls. It is a little depressing. I went into work last night at 11 pm and found one station that was still playing holiday music until midnight. I will bring some seasonal CD’s with me tonight to play in my car and at work. I am a Wiccan and I want the season to last just a little longer, bringing a little light and warmth in to the long, cold night.

by the way, pfiore, Happy Birthday and many more. Blessed Be.
