Pony Party, Phoning Home

Yesterday, I dropped Live’s “mirror song” into the comments of the a.m. pony party.

It’s long been a family favorite, and it’s one of the songs that I’ve called home from a concert to share with a non-attending family member.  It’s sort of a family tradition to call each other when we’re at a concert to share the experience.  I thought it was pretty commonplace, but the few times we’ve offered our phone to folks with us to call home and share a song, they’ve looked at us like we were insane or something.  go figure….

So today I’m posting a few of my family’s ‘gotta share this’ songs….so now you can consider yourselves part of our family 😉

This is Juanes, singing ‘nada valgo sin tu amor’.  fair warning:  he’s H-O-O-O-OT.  hottie hot hot hot.  damn.  he’s hot.  ‘thing 1’ went to see him at madison square garden, and called me to share this song….

Live, of course, as my family tends to worship them.  This is ‘white discussion’…a personal favorite of mine, and my ex calls me whenever he gets to see them and i dont, and they perform this song.  this is the ‘unplugged’ version…

Collective Soul….’listen’…  another one my ex will always call me to share.

The Polyphonic Spree…’light and day’….i think my oldest child came dangerously close to either joining this group, or leaving home to follow them.  i never did get the whole story, but i was told to be grateful she came home from seeing them.  she saw them in an old church in Philadelphia, and the acoustics were great for a phone call…i felt like i was there

….follow the day and reach for the sun……~73v

  1. My ignorance means I have no idea if the lyrics are less than stellar and I kind of make up my own to a tune if I enjoy it.

  2. I threatened to get a pet rat and now it’s done.  Had a girlfriend years ago who had two that were so smart.  They did have a cage in the living room but they went in and out a lot at will and sort of ran around like dogs or cats.  Since we have dogs and cats I don’t foresee that future for the rat that I got though.  I went to the local pet store to put up an add for the puppies and stopped to look at other things.  They had of all things hairless rats.  The ones out front were albino hairless.  The young clerk saw me peering at them and I asked him if they had any hairless that weren’t albino just out of curiosity. He asked me if I was thinking about a pet and I said sort of and he said that he had the one for me in back, she was still pretty small.  He took me to the back room and she was still in a cage with her mothers.  This store sells a lot of snakes so they breed rats for snake lunch.  There were three moms in a cage together and the clerk told me they all get along but rats are such good mother that they steal each others babies all the time to mother.  My God she’s ugly, she’s so ugly she’s gorgeous and she is so precious and so little she has been given no reason to not trust people.  The clerk was very happy to have her go to a home where she isn’t lunch.  Joshua is madly in love with her and she is officially HIS first pet since the dogs are thought to belong to me.  He named her sweetie and she really is.  I took her with me to pick him up at school though yesterday and compared to other rodent pets, rats have to deal with a little racism and discrimination in the human world.  Since she has settled in so nicely though I thought I would introduce her around.
