Suzanne takes you down

to her place near the river

You can hear the boats go by

You can spend the night beside her

And you know that she’s half crazy

But that’s why you want to be there

And she feeds you tea and oranges

That come all the way from china

And just when you mean to tell her

That you have no love to give her

Then she gets you on her wavelength

And she lets the river answer

That you’ve always been her lover

And you want to travel with her

And you want to travel blind

And you know that she will trust you

For you’ve touched her perfect body with your mind.

Xie xie for all of the compliments on my previous “China Essay”. And since I had several requests for more, here ya go.

“Yin Yang” Essay

First of all, there are very strict rules in China.  Here they are….

And that’s just at the driving range.  But I was OK, I didn’t ambulate casually or fight with the clubs.

I have only gotten in trouble once here. It was very serious. I took a photo in WalMart. OMG

As you can see, security was all over it.  I was told in no uncertain terms, “Please do not take photos of our SuperStore!”

So, I took my business elsewhere.

This is a lovely ethnic minority silver shoppe in Yangshuo, Guangxi Province. If you have been to West Street, you may know it.  If you haven’t been to West Street, call your travel agent today. Just go to Guilin and follow the river. It will lead you.

Here’s a shot of West Street from a little hole in the wall I hang out in.

Cool story.. the government wouldn’t let the cafe owner put a window in this room so he just knocked a hole in the bricks and said “It is not a window, it is merely a hole.” No problem. There are work arounds here and the Chinese are good at finding them.

Here we see 2 sales girls awaiting the next load of boat people from the Western World.  West Street is normally jammed with tourists which makes for much amusement for us Expats as we sit in the cafes and try to guess which country a walking tour group is from. (the Americans are easy to spot but some are disguised as Canadians walking around saying “eh, eh, eh”)

My brother, Charley “Duck” from Germany,  and I having the best fucking beer in the world. LiQin, a local beer from Guilin.

But life in China is not all play.  Here I am at work..playing.

This was taken at a school for migrant workers where I once did volunteer work.

And this is one of my classes in the Public School system. Tough job as you can see.

After a year of teaching Primary School, I started teaching at a 300 year-old Teacher’s College, in Haikou.  This is the lovely Mrs. Woof pretending to work in my classroom.

As you can see, the class room and Mrs. Woof are well equipped. I have about 400 students of which 5 are boys. Do the math guys.

That’s it for now folks.  Hope you liked it. We’re outta here. Varoooooom

Now Suzanne takes your hand

And she leads you to the river

She is wearing rags and feathers

From Salvation Army counters

And the sun pours down like honey

On our lady of the harbour

And she shows you where to look

Among the garbage and the flowers

There are heroes in the seaweed

There are children in the morning

They are leaning out for love

And they will lean that way forever

While Suzanne holds the mirror

And you want to travel with her

And you want to travel blind

And you know that you can trust her

For she’s touched your perfect body with her mind.

HAPPY YEAR OF THE MOUSE

    wonderful.

  2. Keep em coming.

  3. Keep these wonders coming.

Bring a few friends to the place & call yourselves the hole in the wall gang.

    I can’t help it… I love this topic.

  4. lol! I like that scene.

This is a work of art Zwoof.  I love the red/yellow format as much as the pictures and the story.

    Dragon is pleased!

  5. …and my favorite Leonard Cohen piece!

    Thanks!  Ditto, more!

  6. What kind of bike is that?

And, if you break your clubs, throw them in the river.
