  1. I’m still watching – very interested in learning more. I’ve never really trusted what we hear about Chavez in our media.

Here’s a link to a similar story about Evo Morales (29 min). Unfortunately, embedding disabled.

    takeover by neo-liberalism.

Neo-liberal is the term that neocons use for themselves, btw. I know that most here know that, but some might not, so I thought I’d mention it.

  2. Never knew the whole story before. Thanks OPOL!

  3. May we be so brave, so strong

    just wow!

  4. when I reviewed two biographies of his life, one of them authorized by his political opponents.  Do read the comments, too — I left no criticism untouched…

The important thing to remember is that about 9.1% of the total public, or a quarter of that 55% which was below the poverty line before Chavez, has emerged from poverty under Chavez.  Chavez’ regime has achieved what the “incrementalists” only promise in this country, and this according to statistics admitted openly by the opposition biography.

Also do consider the recent piece on Venezuela in Counterpunch

  5. that was incredible.

May we draw on stories like this for the strength and inspiration we are going to need in the coming days.

  6. I knew the story, but this puts it together in a remarkably clear way.  And it points directly to the extraordinarily biased way traditional US media report this and other Latin American stories.

Thank goodness with have the Intertubes.  Otherwise, we’d never know.

  7. can save it directly to your computer! 🙂
