Americas Last Chance?

Pundits and Kossaks are saying Hillary is done. There is a quote about when “it” is over that I will not indulge in here, wishing to avoid any hint of misogyny…but her chances are looking, um, slimmer. It seems like everyday brings us a bit closer to McCain vs. Obama.

Could there be a bigger (rhetorical) contrast?

Old vs. New, Rhetoric of Peace vs. Rhetoric of War, Unity vs. Division, Hope vs. Death and Destruction….and there is one more I am forgetting, I think.

Folks here do not seem to be as easy of prey for rhetoric as elsewhere, but the choice is eloquently framed by the candidates, Obama using his natural eloquence, the last 8 years providing it for St. John the Asleep.

In eight long/short months, America will have a clear choice….of, at least, rhetoric. And to a certain extent, action as well. For we may not know what Obama will do for us, but it doesn’t take Kreskin to know what McCain will do to us.

America is crumbling. The ancient shards of broken pottery in the cradle of civilization spreading inexorably to our barn. Destroying not the merchandise, but the entire structure. As they always do, eventually, the walls of Empire falling in amongst themselves. This may not be the last chance to stop the implosion, but it is by far our best next step.

What will America choose?

Which, considering that America ‘elected’ Bush twice, makes me say….

as well as being an apt description of John McSame (and his predecessor).

It’s as simple as this four more of the last eight, or something else.  That’s a winning campaign strategy.

BTW, in risk of displeasing the dharmagawds, the election coverage at Talk Left, particularly BTD’s, has been excellent.  After Gore, the popular vote should be determinative of what the super delegates do.

  2. i mean, i expect the repubs to come out swinging against obama…but to try to play the fear card??  when mccain is the scariest man not in the executive branch already??  wtf??

people are stupid, though (as evidenced by certain people suggesting certain body parts could be ‘improved’ ;)…and i dont expect it to be nearly as ‘obvious’ as it should be, to the ‘average’ voter, that is…

  3. If that’s all he has, then we’ll be on the party boat, waving to him on shore.

…and if it’s so obvious, then the continuing, freaked-out wilding on her over at orange, perpetrated by so many poo-flinging monkeys hopped-up on speed and rabies, is totally unnecessary.

I support Obama.  I don’t support crazed banshees.  It’s a problem the candidate’s got:  the confluence of enthused supporters with crazy people.

How do I know they’re crazy?  They’re more obsessed with fainting over Obama and freaking over Hillary than they are with confronting the serial stupidities and outrages of McCain and the GOP.

Thank God, a few non-lobotomized people still post diaries at orange, and they are saints.  They certainly are more patient than I am, and less susceptible to whatever’s in the water over there.  I salute them.

  4. Oh wait, what were you talking about?

Crumbling Empires? Is that a new show on the SciFi Channel?

Any whooo, it will go down something like this:

Unless shit goes really bad, then it will go like this:

  5. …regardless of which of the remaining two Dems you prefer, don’t let any animosity from the primaries stop you from voting against the GOP in the general election.

As a party, they are too compromised by radical ideologues and corruptions to govern competently.

If you never vote person over party, now’s a compelling time to consider breaking that trend, just for one election.

  6. on Counterpunch — StClair thinks Clinton is trying to bring Obama down so that she can win in 2012.  The sharks in the tank are growing restless.

As for “what will America choose?”, America’s choice will be made for America, one way or another.  Democracy is only semi-real, as the US is an economic oligarchy, with most of the real power in the hands of that top 1% who own half of the non-home capital assets.

What’s scary is to think that these same people would sacrifice the planet to abrupt climate change rather than give up any tiny amount of their power and privileges.  The effectiveness of the profits system in breeding the New Man has thus demonstrated its effectiveness over three centuries.  Pettiness unto mass death!

  7. and not hysterical, but as your namesake measured. The clamor from both the media (TV) and the net is still raging and it’s tweaking my head not to mention my soul. Hillary is at this point in my faulty perception like the ending of Fatal Attractions, she just keeps rising from the bathtub. Kept alive from people I love on the net and why?

Fear of change disguised as centrist? An actual belief in the false narrative, the one that says where all idiots? Pragmatism?  I am suffering right now from the overload I’m carrying of information that is not information but as Obama says Bamboozle. Lawyers, pundits tricksters, shifting lines of deception, is this real or is it death throes? I am rubbing your tummy Buhdy because this will give me the answer. Won’t it? My mom used to say rub the Buhdy’s tummy and you’ll get the truth.

  8. election/media enhanced/blogging underscored brain implosions.

I’m wondering how my pea brain is going to make it to election day because it’s only going to get a lot more noisy between now and then and I CAN’T TAKE IT ANY MORE.

Thanks for the level headed diary dearest leader and for letting me get that off my chest….
