Saturn’s Season: The Politics of Eating Your Own

You would have thought by now we may have figured out that Saturn’s strategy just might be a flawed one.

I guess it all depends on what one defines as their own.

In this sickening season, not only have the Candidates themselves resorted to Saturnian blood lust, but their followers have as well. They cannot abide that anyone may supplant their entitled right to the forefront and stake their claim to superiority with gristly smiles and bellies full of flesh.

They hand the Republicans the very swaddled stone that allows their Ruler to prevail; by so doing they move the hand that feeds us that poisoned cup.

It was prophesied that one day Cronus would lose power when one of his children would depose him. To prevent this from happening, each time Rhea delivered a child Cronus would immediately swallow it.

When her sixth child, Zeus, was born, Rhea had him spirited away to the island of Crete. She then wrapped a stone in his swaddling clothes. Her deception was complete when Cronus swallowed it, thinking it was the child. When Zeus was grown, he secured the job of cup-bearer to his father. With the help of Gaia, his grandmother, Zeus fed his father a potion that caused him to vomit up Zeus’s five siblings, Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon.

Would Saturn have been the Immortal God, Cronus of all time had he chosen to raise his children well, and accept them all? I mean we all know how it worked out between his children, Zeus, Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon in the end. Too much time in a bitter belly can spoil anyone. Infighting did them in too.

Gaea must feel so used. She brought forth all these children, and the men who loved her set them upon themselves.

She gets it. Everyone is “Her Own” and eating eachother? Bad thing. Saturn’s original job was one of planting seeds and growing things, and he turned into a harbinger of hate in his greed. His Entitlement. From giver of life to taker of it. Nice Legacy.

There is no entitlement, dig? There should be no “rightful claims” to better positions, leadership is earned, should be earned by the inclusion of all and the moral choices made that draw people to emulate them.

Clinton certainly embodies Saturn. She would (and probably will) destroy her own (her party) in order to stay Ruler. This woman needs to Go. Talk about entitled “I have a right to the Front Page and lead story” daily attitude. She thinks she has been pre-ordained and will devour anything in her path.  Not what I look for in a leader.

Obama has done less, but this past few days his high road has dipped perilously lower.

Hell, all McCain needs to beat us in November is a decent TiVo and some commercial time. We have handed him the poison cup to use back on us.

Hell, all his staff needs to do is google any left-wing blog and grab quotes from the rabid followers of either one to find the absolutely bloodthirsty entitlement of Saturn as a Stone for the people to swallow.

We are going down.

We are going down unless we remember and remember very quickly not to eat our own.

McCain would have no qualms about feeding on the flesh feast we have left in our own wake.

Me? I’m backing Obama, but not without debate or question. As long as the Saturnians are willing to devour and divide Gaea’s other children like me, as long as they see any view other than their own as a damned competition to their entitled rule, McCain will win.

They say what you focus on expands. They say the collective consciousness influences the world like ripples in a pond.

If we want a United Party, we must start acting like Uniters.

If we want a higher moral being to lead us? We must start acting morally to eachother, and perhaps our leaders will respond in kind.

Should we not, we will lose another whole generation of voters who have no alliance to the Party as such; so disillusioned they would be should we manage to lose this thing.

If we are ready for this face to be crowned King for the Next 4-8 years? Then we can just keep on with the Saturn stuff, and snipe away, and claim our entitlement, eat anything and anyone who threatens our perceived leader’s status.

It didn’t work out so well for Saturn. Being that only 12 of the last 40 years or so have seen a Democratic President; I would offer it hasn’t worked out for Democrats very well either.
