Worthy Causes

This is the place to post charities, organizations and other causes that are anti-war or that provide support for troops, veterans, and military families.  Refugee relief agencies and anti-war political candidates are some other ideas.

  • Provide a link to the Donation page for the charity or organization.
  • Vouch for the donee – explain why you think people should give money to them.

  1. They are doing a great job listing, publishing and creating awareness of the monthly anti-war events (every 3rd Friday).  Support their website:   iraqmoratorium.org

  2. from their website:

The Cell Phones for Soldiers program was started in April 2004 by 13-year-old Brittany Bergquist and her 12-year-old brother Robbie of Norwell, Massachusetts.

Robbie and Brittany’s goal is to help our soldiers serving overseas call home. They hope to provide as many soldiers as possible with prepaid calling cards. Through generous donations and the recycling of used cell phones, Robbie and Brittany have already distributed thousands of calling cards to soldiers around the globe.

  3. Helping military families by providing housing to family members who come to visit injured soldiers in the hospital.

    From the website:

There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 10,000 families, and have made available nearly 2.5 million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. By law, there is no charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs; and Fisher House Foundation uses donations to reimburse the individual Fisher Houses operated by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. No family pays to stay at any Fisher House!
