I Was Mostly Excoriated

 Let’s do the disclaimer first:

I support Obama and want him to get the nomination over Hillary, and win the general election over McCain.

There.

That being said, I was mostly excoriated by the orange Obamabots when I posted this diary, back in February, to wit:  It Begins:  What Will Obama Do?.  They have a very “shoot the messenger” attitude over there, if it’s not blowing kisses at Obama.  I can’t abide such things.

At any rate, that now being “of record”, let’s turn to today’s Talking Points Memo and an article found there entitled:  Conservatives Planning New Attack Group for Election.  A’yup — it’s all about what’s already sort of started, but which hasn’t begun to really get going, yet:  an assault on Sen. Hopey Hope the likes of which will make mere Swiftboating look like a deluge of love letters.

The very first comment under the TPM article is the best one, too:

The issue is this…

Will the Democrats collectively wet their pants

at the sight of these attacks or will they

                    counter-attack?

                    JimboF

And, no, I’m not “JimboF”.

The answer to the question is, well, I don’t know.  When Ed Shultz called McCain a “warmonger” a couple of days ago, the Obama campaign attained light-speed in its rush to denounce Shultz.  So, I’m not sure what’s going to happen when the gloves really come off.  And the people at orange think that Hillary’s all diabolical and nasty.  She’s a piker compared to what the GOP’s going to do to Obama.  Brace yourselves . . .

I did a lurk over at orange an hour or two ago and found a couple of (very good) McCain-related stories on the Front Page.  A pleasant shock to not see 5,987,209,136 “Hillary is the Devil” stories.

  1. repeatedly by the RW.  I watched a bit of the Chris Wallance interview of John Kerry on Sunday.  While Kerry made some good points, the interview was to me a reminder (as if I needed one) that the wingnuts will not only continue, but escalate, their “attack everything ‘Democrat'” behavior through November.

I could only tolerate a few minutes of the interview before I had to turn it off.  Wallace talked 2 to 3 times longer than Kerry, wouldn’t let Kerry comment when he (Wallace) was ranting about Obama, the “Democrats”, etc. and asking his typical “when did you stop beating your wife” type questions.  IMHO, any Democratic politician that agrees to go on Fox is just asking to be belittled, have their words twisted & taken out of context, and be subjected to GOP/RNC propaganda being spewed by Fox “news” people.  Wallace actually sounded like a republican politician who was debating Kerry, but unfortunately, Wallace was also the moderator of the debate & let himself talk & talk, while cutting Kerry off repeatedly.

So far in this campaign, I’ve been disappointed in both HRC and Obama in their mostly lukewarm and weak counterpunches to the GOP attacks–although they’ve beaten each other up pretty well.  Sadly, I believe that the Rev. Wright episode is just the beginning of the GOP campaign to get McCain elected & I hope the Dems wake up & go on the offense soon.

I read on the right. In deep dark dirty corners. It will be bad for Obama. Really bad.

But this is the proxy war of the 527s — not the parties. So the question is — will the MoveOn types get really really nasty?

Obama and McCain will take the high road.

And Americans will vote for whoever makes them feel safe.

as well as not being a “Barack Obama fan”, I could easily vote for him in the GE. I’d still vote for Hillary, too though.

Over at the GOS [Great Orange Satan], one is at best hectored when the subject of Obama’s seemingly inconsistent stands are broached.

The typical reaction is: “how dare you criticize the anointed one!?” – while I have avoided getting troll rated to death, I found the atmosphere so smug and disgusting, it drove me away for a while.

Here’s some stuff you will never see serious discussion about at the GOS re: Barack

    His support of the MIC

His support of the coal industry

His appearance at AIPAC last year*

[*not that I think AIPAC is the big evil many others do, but reading his speech given there a year ago, it could have been written by nearly any Republican Senator]

His lack of providing real details about challenging corporate sloth and criminality in this country

His continued dodging and holes in the health care arguments raging about

Even so, with all of his ‘flaws’, I have no trouble supporting the guy. But the folks at the GOS will run you out of town on a rail if you dare post anything that hints at Saint Barry being anything other than the 2nd coming Christ. I have tried, and got attacked, ignored, called names, called a Hillary bot and every other damn thing under the sun.

What is really pathetic is that ‘the management’ seems to want to encourage the mindlessness.

There’s going to be a lot of very disappointed people over there when President Obama fails to deliver on what they think he can do.
