The Cruelest Lie

From Obama’s Website April 27, 2008:

Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months.

John McCain is the only candidate willing to speak openly and honestly about US dependence on oil America doesn’t have. Gas prices continue to rise, elections in Iran returned conservatives to power, and cash is flowing to oil-producing countries at record levels.

McCain can and should be criticized for painting too rosy a picture of progress in Iraq. McCain, however, is not lying to the American people about his plans to secure energy for America for as long as he’s President; or his plans to leave US troops in Iraq.

Obama explicitly promises to withdraw all US combat troops from Iraq within 16 months of taking office. According to Obama, the only troops who will remain will serve a purely defensive role or to carry out ‘targeted strikes on Al Qaeda’. Sounds like bullshit to me.

The next President, in fact, will be standing in a very deep hole, created by Dems who stood by while Republicans gang-raped the US Constitution, destroyed US soft-power, saddled US tax-payers with trillions in debt and did nothing to reduce US dependence on fossil fuels. That’s the reality of the challenge ahead.

Obama and HRC spent their time in Washington promoting their chances at the US presidency instead of protecting the interests of average Americans. Any question of holding Bush to account was deemed injurious to Dem prospects in 2008. Both signed off on the worst excesses of the Bush administration or dodged key-votes.The damage done in the last two years of the Bush regime has been incalculable.

Two years ago I could not have imagined McCain as President. The lies, the cynicism, and the naked ambition of Obama, particularly, convince me that a bad President who speaks frankly about the challenges ahead is far better than a bad President willing to tell the cruelest of lies to the American public simply to steal an election.

  1. is that this will be my last post for a bit. I was busy on another board and wanted to drop by to salute you all with my own view.

Don’t expect much in the way of agreement, but can’t think of a more agreeable group to disagree with.

  2. supreme court.

    torture.

    bomb, bomb, bomb iran.

is simply their actions rather than their words.  If this is what we can expect (and we should, since it’s the best indicator of what’s to come, I think), then I’ll happily take the liars.

  3. is a strategy with any more substance than falling for the mystique of the Democrats.

    The Dems stood by.

    While Repubs DID

How is that by any measure of logic a reason (excuse) to vote for the Repubs?

    .

    .

Using the analogy I used with Pfiore…

The Repubs tied a puppy to a railroad track then did all they could to keep the Dems from untying it.

But after the train comes, YOU say it is the Dems who are responsible for the dead puppy?
