Went kayaking ( that is a pretty loose description ) last weekend on a much under utilized lake nearby. Got my first sunburn of the year and yes I was wearing sunblock.
Taking pictures while kayaking. Not so easy…. try sticking your camera ( my crummy back up camera I might add ) in a waterproof pouch and snapping…

Turtle and snake action. I freaked out thinking I was accidentally banging into a water moccasin. The turtles were less than pleased about being disturbed.

the woods and streams I grew up playing in around Arlington, VA, catching frogs, toads, cicadas, mantises, king snakes, box turtles, painted turtles, snapping turtles, garter snakes and the odd copperhead.

the lake was beckoning this weekend, but i’m sick and then my husband got another sore throat, so we’re both home, snuggled in afghans and the cat has made my lap her permanent home. except when the windows are open, then she’s up for a bit.
there’s work i could be doing, but, see above about being sick. did download the movie “Juno” and yes, the dialog was snappy and great. age old story, but done well.
