Hey Friends!

The Greenpeace ship, the Arctic Sunrise navigated into perilous waters yesterday in the Cypriot Channel. Greenpeace was in the area calling for an end to unsustainable fishing practices and requesting the establishment of a marine reserve between Cyprus and Turkey.

The Sunrise was met with unprovoked violence by three Turkish fishing vessels. One ship collided with the Sunrise causing superficial damages on the ship’s starboard side. Then the Turkish ship’s crew started hurling lead fishing weights at the Greenpeace ship.

We understand that these guys are angry – -we’re angry too. But the real problem has been caused by the refusal of governments to take action and regulate an industry that is fishing itself dry.

Take Action NOW and Join the Call for a Global Network of Marine Reserves

->>Watch this startling video of the Turkish fishing boat who pelted the Sunrise with lead weights and damaged the Greenpeace helicopter, leaving it inoperable:

Greenpeace is campaigning for a global network of fully protected marine reserves. With the risks our oceans face, it is time to wake our government up to what is happening offshore.

Take Action now and call for more marine reserves.

Peace & thanks,
