Our Naked Emperor and Impeachment

The official report is out. Bush and Cheney officially lied to the world, the UN and the American People to invade a sovereign country with no reason or provocation. The ultimate War Crime…

“the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole.”

…made even more despicable (if that is even possible) by the willful deception.

Why?

To establish an outpost of American Empire in the Middle East. To control and dominate the region by dint of armed might. To kill and subjugate masses of innocent people, thus terrorizing ‘the terrorists’ into submission. And of course being Republicans, to profit personally and politically.

Two oilmen, plucking the low hanging fruit of energy hegemony by brute force and in violation of every International Law and Treaty.

They of course knew they were lying. They of course knew that there were those that saw through the lie and opposed them. They then, of course, had to insure against detection of their lies by controlling the press, and by spying on their own citizens. As part of their campaign to terrorize “the terrorists” they established a network of secret torture prisons. To eliminate opposition and suspicion, they sought to destroy a former ambassador who was pointing the finger of fraud at them…and in the process destroyed an entire CIA counter-terrorism network.

War Crimes, War Profiteering, Torture, Treason.

And yet they walk free. And yet they still have power….and yet their dreams of Empire continue.  As they try to blackmail their own puppet government into completely submitting to their schemes of Empire and subjugation. To continue the lie, to continue the occupation, to continue the profits, to continue to commit America to the exact course of tyrannical empiricism it was founded in protest of and was founded to prevent.

War Crimes, War Profiteering, Torture, Treason.

And yet they walk free. And yet they still have power….the power to attack yet another sovereign country…according to so many sources (heh) that the warnings would be foolish to ignore.

It was NOT “an error” that has led to over 4000 America deaths, up to a million Iraqi deaths, to 4 million refugees, to trillions of dollars spent as our economy falls apart.

It was a deliberate lie.

And yet they walk free. And yet they still have power. And yet still not one of our ‘leaders’ will stand in the Halls of Congress and point the finger of truth at our naked Emperor.

to say that there isn’t any new news here and there is nothing that we haven’t seen or heard before.

It’s true.  I’ve heard it before because I’m just a suspicious subvertive progressive type, and I’ve seen it before, because there are a lot of others just like me that don’t believe ANY word that comes out of Bush’s mouth or any of his crony mouthpieces.

CAN WE PUT IMPEACHMENT BACK ON THE TABLE …. NOW??

  2. they were lying? Jeez you would have had to be blind deaf and stupid to have believed what went down with this war. It’s insulting to have this now when it’s ‘too late to do anything’ being trotted out like it’s a big revelation. Four years ago Kerry’s chief strategist said “We don’t use the L word”. So if congress is just now figuring out that the intel was bad they should throw all of them out along with the war criminal neocon’s because the Bushies could not have done this with out their consent.

Meanwhile the Guantanamo trial’s are being conducted and my weasel Senator Wyden who defended this shameful place is pulling a typical pols act. After years of being on the intelligence committee and never uttering a word of dissent he is now making noise about going after Rummy. Not Bush or Cheney or Condi. He thinks were as stupid as he is. Pretty surreal as the election continues with these madmen in power and the ones that empowered them uttering inanities like this.

Lying to Congress is against the law, although Wyden did not say he believes Rumsfeld should be charged with criminal wrongdoing at least not without further investigation, he said.

“This has been a long process, many of us feel an overly long process, but it was essential for us to answer these questions about how we got into Iraq so that there would be genuine public accountability,” Wyden said.

“And with respect to some of the statements that Secretary Rumsfeld made that I have outlined perhaps in painstaking detail this morning, I think further review is warranted.”

  3. to be more despicable

  4. as long as it’s not lying about gettin’ some in the oval office (including lying about the definition of “gettin” and “some”).

These guys are an extraordinary flock of shitbirds.  Jesus H. Christ with his hand on the Bible swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help him Dad.

  5. I’m pointing the finger of truth at him.

The founder of the largest progressive blog in the world not only opposed Impeachment, he ridiculed Impeachment advocacy as PORN.

What kind of progressive leadership is that?

It’s chickenshit progressive leadership, that’s what kind it is.

People have every right to be angry at Dems in Congress for not pursuing Impeachment, but they have no right to give Zuniga a free pass.

    But he’s gotten one.

We’ve been victimized by the worst crime rampage in American political history, yet the leader of Daily Kos won’t support Impeachment.  And damn near everyone I know REWARDS him for his betrayal of the Constitution by still posting on his blog.

I’m not asking people to boycott Daily Kos, but I am asking what it feels like to post on a blog whose founder demeans you as PORN peddlers.

Just for the record, pointing all this out isn’t “bashing” Daily Kos, it’s telling the fucking truth.

  6. Congressman on board. Here is the text of an email I received from Neil Abercrombi(HI-01) in response to an email from me regarding impeachment and Bush’s use of Executive Priviledge.

    Dear xxxxxx:

Thank you for contacting me to advocate for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney or both. Clearly, impeachment is the only avenue to cut through the executive privilege defenses and force this Administration to answer for its actions.

Rep. Bob Wexler (FL) and I have written House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (please find this letter attached below) urging him to begin the investigation process that would precede the actual impeachment inquiry. We suggested that the process should start by focusing on the actions of Vice President Cheney. In the letter, we stated: “The charges against the Vice President relate to the core actions of this Administration, its unlawful behavior and its abuse of power. As you know, the charges against Vice President Cheney include providing Congress and the American people false intelligence leading up to the Iraq war, the revelation of the identity of a covert agent for political retaliation, and the illegal wiretapping of American citizens.”

There is no doubt that history will confirm that the Bush Administration has richly earned a place as one of the very worst presidencies in the 219 years since George Washington first took the oath of office. But if our traditions of justice and the rule of law have any meaning, we cannot wait for history to render its judgment. We need to begin holding members of this Administration accountable to the people they are sworn to serve.

I will continue to urge my colleagues on the Judiciary Committee and in the House leadership to get the process underway.

Mahalo for contacting me to share your views on this matter.

Looks like he is fully on board the impeachment bandwagon! This is quite a departure from previous responses I’ve received from him on the same subject. The previous responses were along the lines of “Don’t have the time, don’t have the votes, more important issues to address, blah, blah, blah!” I was actually stunned when I read it! I expected more of the same, but was pleasantly surprised! I think it’s a good sign!!
