Here’s a Friggin’ Surprise! Cheney’s office tried to alter greenhouse gas testimony

(8:30PM EST – promoted by Nightprowlkitty)

Scooter Libby.

We all know the name.  (BTW, a grown man named Scooter really is kinda creepy, don’t you think)?  Anyway.  Ol’ Scooter stepped on his crank pretty good when he deliberatly outed a CIA covert agent, Valarie Plame-Wilson on what we expect were orders from Vlad Cheney when Ms. Plame-Wilson’s husband, Joe Wilson, told everyone that the Niger – Iraqi “Yellow Cake” nuclear weapons-of-mass-destruction information that the Bush Administration was throwing around was bunk.  After Mr. Wilson published his article “What I Didn’t Find in Africa” in the New York Times, BushCo went after Wilson and his wife with a full court press.

Well, Scooter was tried and convicted of lying to the Fed’s about his and the Bush Administrations role in all of this, and subsequently had his sentence commuted by Presnit-wit Bush for his troubles.

It looks as though V.P. Vlad was at it once again when it came to altering evidence in another case where the Administration didn’t like the scientific answers

that were forthcoming and they once again tried to alter the scientific reality into a corporate-friendly reality.

From LA Times:

Cheney’s office tried to alter greenhouse gas testimony, former official says – The new charges of political interference could boost efforts by California and other states to implement their own vehicle emission standards over White House opposition.

Vice President Dick Cheney’s office worked to alter sworn congressional testimony provided by a federal official in order to play down the threat of global warming and head off regulation of greenhouse gas emissions, a former government official said in a new accusation Tuesday.

Jason K. Burnett, a former Environmental Protection Agency official, cited the behind-the-scenes efforts by unnamed officials in Cheney’s office in a letter to congressional investigators regarding testimony in January by his former boss, EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson.

Burnett appeared at a news conference Tuesday with Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), who said his statements could boost efforts by California and other states to implement their own vehicle emission standards over White House opposition. Boxer plans to call Burnett to testify later this month before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which she chairs.

His charges are likely to give Bush administration critics new ammunition in their efforts to portray executive-branch actions on the environment as driven by politics, rather than science.

 My emphasis

Really, what else is there to say that the above few paragraphs don’t already spell out in Technicolor?  Once again, the Bush Administration receives hard data that is counter to their Profits-For-US-Rich-Guys platform and they go out of their way to lie, cheat, undermine and strong-arm others to make sure the REAL story doesn’t see the light of day.

What else does the LA Times have to say about the Administration and altering of reality to fit their “Global Warming has been Debunked” agenda?

Administration pressure also was cited in changes to testimony by the head of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in October and in an attempt to prevent the EPA from taking a step toward regulating greenhouse gas emissions in December.

Science.  The War on Science.  The War for Profits.  The War against the World for Profits.  Its all the same damned thing in Bush World.
