Warning: This post is racist. It contains stereotypes and generalizations about a certain racial group, in order to try to depict and describe my view of the world as it is. But I certainly do not believe nor wish to imply that all members of that racial group conform to the generalizations contained herein, as I hope I make clear below.
America has never really been America. That is to say the vision of America spelled out in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence has never come into actual being. An America of equal opportunity, freedom, and justice for all.
There has always been Two Americas! At the highest potential it has ever reached, there have been three Americas. The third being the Middle Class, now an endangered species. America has never REALLY practically been about the ideals that were espoused in our founding documents. Coming out of and rebelling against a monarchal system made it necessary to spell out some stark differences between what America was under the British Monarchy and what it aspired to be. The Founders needed to lay out their ideals, in reaction to the tyrannical reality they inhabited, some goals of what they thought an ideal society would be. Being intelligent men, they knew that merely signing a piece of paper with these goals written upon them would not transform instantly into the realization of those goals.
They were obviously counting on future generations to realize those ideals.
Like…us.
America was FOUNDED as Two Americas. The rich white male “Christians” (Christians must be put in quotes, since several of the Founders, most notably the author of the Declaration, Jefferson, had rejected conventional Christianity in favor of The Enlightenment, which explains the, btw, explains the inclusion of the radical concepts of equality and justice for all.) ……………….and everybody else.
Rich white male Christians founded America and rich white male Christians have ruled it ever since. Not surprisingly given human nature, rich white male Christians have used the power of their elevated position as the sole class of citizens allowed to hold power by other rich white male Christians to benefit, protect, and permanently ensconce the rich white male Christian power structure. When non-rich, non-white, non-male, non-Christian persons or people have attempted to gain power or wealth, rich white male Christians have seen this as an attack on them and reacted accordingly…and often quite violently.
This is not a thing of the past, despite the fact that white Americans seem to think so.

Yes, Bill, the far left DOES want to break down the rich white male Christian power structure. Why? Because we BELIEVE in these words:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men (AND women!) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.….
That is the America I believe in, that is the America I wish to build, the future I wish to build.
The rich white male Christian power structure is an awkward phrase. Cumbersome. Fortunately there is a simple one word alternative.
Republicans.
Now certainly not all Republicans are rich white male Christians!
And certainly not all rich white male Christians are Republicans!
And you certainly don’t have to be a Republican to support and empower the rich white male Christian power structure.
There are plenty of non-rich white male Christian Republicans. But by dint of tribal identification, affiliation and aspiration, many non-rich white male Christians vote Republican.
(Democrats have not won the white male vote in any election in recent memory)
Dutiful wives and daughters of the rich white male Christian power structure.. which is the only truly accepted role for non-male members of the rich white male Christian power structure, also tend to vote Republican.
There are even a few ….VERY few…. non-white, non-Christian Republicans!
And then there are the rich white male Christians who DO believe in equality, freedom, and justice for all. They TEND to be Democrats.
For 230 years, the rich white male Christian power structure has ruled America. In the 1930’s a member of the rich white male Christian power structure, a Democrat, looked out upon a nation that Republicans had plunged into a terrible depression and decided to do something about it. The New Deal.
What was the Old Deal? The Old Deal was the rich white male Christian power structure acquiring and concentrating as much wealth and power as possible, at the expense of everyone else. The New Deal was in essence a series of remedies and protections for everyone else against the greed of the rich white male Christian power structure. The New Deal contained, for instance, legislation that fostered and protected Labor Unions, whose purpose, from the perspective of the rich white male Christian power structure was taking money out of their pockets and “giving it” to workers.
Since then the rich white male Christian power structure has been trying to destroy the New Deal.
Then in the 1960’s, another member of the rich white male Christian power structure, a Democrat, looked out upon a nation that was being challenged by non-rich non-white citizens to live up to the words of the Founders and helped pass Civil Rights and Voting Protection legislation to protect those non-rich non-white citizens from the rich white male Christian power structure.
Since then the rich white male Christian power structure has been trying to destroy the Civil Rights and Voting Protection legislation.
In the late 1960’s there was a cultural revolution in America that challenged all that the rich white male Christian power structure stood for. Largely powered by the lower and middle classes and including newly ‘liberated’ (from what, if not the rich white male Christian power structure?) women and people of color, this new wave of activist and legislators took power and, with the help of rich white male Christian Democrats, began to pass laws that sought to bring to an end the stranglehold of therich white male Christian power structure. And the discriminatory policies that had been deliberately set in place either culturally or legally to keep the rich white male Christian power structure in power.
This group of people became….”The Looney Left”
Since then the rich white male Christian power structure has been trying to destroy “The Looney Left”
The rich white male Christian power structure, which I reiterate does NOT represent the views or actions of all rich white male Christians, has culminated in the Presidency of George Walker Bush, under whom, the pretense that the the rich white male Christian power structure does not exist has been abandoned and has aggressively tried to roll back any progress that had been made at INCLUDING anyone not in, or sympathetic to….the rich white male Christian power structure.
To put it simply, in order to protect the rich white male Christian power structure, the rich white male Christian power structure has systematically discriminated against virtually anyone not in thethe rich white male Christian power structure, particularly anyone seen to be dangerous to the….you know what!
In conclusion:
In order for America to become America, the Land of the Truly Free, a land of freedom, Justice, Equality and equal opportunity for ALL….
The rich white male Christian power structure must, TO SOME EXTENT, be destroyed, be broken down, not out of malice, but to create a greater and FAR more inclusive power structure.
Barack Obama will NOT be elected by rich white males. He will be elected by the REST of America, the rest of US. The ones who want to make America into what the Founders, informed by Enlightenment principles, dreamed it could be.
“They” want a rich white male Christian power structure.
We want to make America, America.

The election of Obama alone will not do it. But it will open a door.
Second, when people describe their experiences of being discriminated against or shunned by therich white male Christian power structure, they are not having a “pity party.” They are describing the political and social reality of exclusion that exists in America.

wool comes off from over our eyes and we see that Obama is part of that ‘Rich, White Male’ power structure? He is, almost certainly (yes, from the Democratic side of said power structure, but part of it nonetheless). Why did the Dems just happen to pick an obscure politician from Illinois to speak at the ’04 convention? Remember, that was as rigid a Dem convention as we’ve seen (of course, probably nothing like what we’ll see in Denver).
It occured to me today what Obama’s running for. He’s running for W’s first term as if 9/11 had happened before W became President.
I ‘hope’ the ‘change’ Obama will bring (because I just can’t see him losing to McCain – If he does, well I wonder if we’ll still be calling him such a great politician – and many who would actually fit under a third party banner are buying into the ‘hope’ and ‘change’ meme are going to vote for him) will be more than just he’s not ‘W’.
I expect to be disappointed.
Chinese atheists are dictating our trade policy while Saudi Arabian Muslims are dictating our energy policy.
Meanwhile, in each of the last two Presidential elections, at least one candidate was/is backrolled by an heiress wife.
Stop playing the sucker Buhdy. Accepting and promoting O’Reilly’s racial, religious and gender divisions is exactly what allows the top 1% in this country to keep the rest of us fighting among ourselves.
That’s the real American History.
