The folks over at Brave New Films (who put out just fantastic stuff!) sent me a mail today asking if I was planning anything to thank all the folks who signed the Maddow Movement petition. Unbeknownst to me they had posted the petition on their site back when we were pushing it Being a complete boor and social misfit,…….I wasn’t! But thanks to their gentle kick in the posterior….I am! Though I would love to take credit for Rachel getting her own show and Keith did go out of his way (ha!) to thank me personally (ha! The Sequel!) in his announcement diary over at Daily Kos…..

…… the lion’s share of the credit (duh!) goes to Rachel herself for kicking serious bee-hind on the tee-vee. And then to the over 1400 people who signed the petition and all the others, on the Net and off, who Yelled Loudly enough to get some attention on this. Then to Keith for ‘sponsoring’ her…and finally to the suits over at NBC for finally realizing what a gem they had on their hands and giving her the show. If there were credits scrolling, I would be under the gaffers and grips.
Yay Rachel!
The main thing of course, is that we ALL win here by getting another sharp, witty, cogent, LEFT WING voice on cable news…and who knows maybe even one day the Mother Ship of NBC itself! As it says in the petition:

We petition you to continue this trend by promoting Rachel Maddow to her own show.
As the nation changes, so must the media…and you can lead that change by promoting Rachel Maddow and putting the second objective, Progressive voice on the air in her own time slot with her own (increased) editorial control. Thus providing our nation with more real, balanced coverage of the news…and, due to Rachel’s unique and insightful voice and her many fans and admirers, practically guaranteeing a ratings winner!
So thank you all, petitioneers…and you may go to your beds tonight and sleep the sleep of the just….the just plain fantastic!

Even KO says so! Large victory in making in roads into the vast propaganda machine. I’m sorry they took off Abrams who reminded me of Armando (a lawyer after all) instead of the odious toady ‘Stretch’ but then again Rachael and KO is heaven. Our sane ambassadors in the vast wasteland.
You’ve become a social force to be reckoned with, Buhdy. Now the swiftboating will start, so we’d better prepare the rebuttals.
We’d also better start up some regularly scheduled Digg and Stumbleupon parties here since OTB installed the power last week, among other types of social bookmarking parties, and take this place into the bigtime, nationwide.
Starting next year we can do Yearly Dharma where the so called “leaders” of the parties will have to bow and scrape their way in bearing gifts to pay their obeisance. 😉
And we’ll be needing a theme song, of course!
Maybe Rachel Maddow can be convinced to guest blog here too, if you give her show a free ad in the sidebar?
