Casting the Beauty Platform for a Multi-Polar Peace

(10:00PM EST – promoted by Nightprowlkitty)

A world of one dominant power is an imperial world … to maintain its dominance that one dominant power must interfere with the affairs of those outside the boundaries of the metropole. It is an intrinsically imperial project, whether proudly so or, as in our case, it is an imperial project that must be pursued while paying lip service to self-determination and democratic expression.

A world of one dominance power is a world, therefore, of war.

But a multi-polar world is not necessarily a world of peace. It can be, under a balance of power, but there is no necessity that it shall be.

So today, it is casting the Beauty Platform for a Multi-Polar world at Peace. A lot of weight for one shiny and three tarnished copper coins to carry … I hope they do not get deformed under the stress, like the pennies that “those mischievous kids” used to put on the railroad tracks.

Stable solid line | Stable divided line | Stable solid line

Stable divided line | Stable solid line | Stable Divided Line

63. Already Across

Already across.

Progressing.

Little benefit in persisting.

At first good fortune,

eventually disorder.

The situation is ready, so there is no need for putting yet more energy into it. Things are still progressing. Initially things go well. But there isn’t a goal to work to any more, so one will become a bit scattered if no new goal is taken up.

Huhwhat?

Reading

Sometimes the least expected readings seem the most obvious. Of course, Operation Forever War / Police Station in Iraq is such blind and arrogant exercise in imperial overstretch that it is creating a multi-polar world.

And when the US finally abandons the effort to maintain the Empire-By-Another-Name, the early result may well be a peace … perhaps tenuous, but it would not be at all surprising if it was more peace than we are experiencing at present as irredentist tendencies are encouraged in order to generate counter-invasion to generate a suitable political climate for a Republican victory in the Fall.

But it will not hang together if it is just relief from the end of the Empire-By-Another-Name. Unless we are cooperating to do something, things will fall apart.

Things to cooperate on … I am sure that people can suggest some candidates. A sustainable economy, rescue of as many damaged ecosystems as feasible, moving as much industry that is unsustainable on earth into the high frontier as possible … the hard part will not be in proposing them.

The hard part will be in listening to people from other lands seriously enough and intently enough so that we can hear proposals they make that are worth collaborating on, and so that we can hear which of our proposals excite genuine interest, and which are simply attracting polite attention from a sense of relief that no effort is being made to impose it upon a reluctant world.

Listening outside the boundaries of the metropole … it can be demanding, but it can also be oh, so rewarding.

Musical Analogy

Sitting here wasting my time

Would be like

Waiting for the sun to rise

It’s all too clear things come and go

Sitting here waiting for you

Would be like waiting for winter

It’s gonna be cold

There may even

Be snow

Por el camino del desierto

El viento me despeina

Sube el aroma de colita

Luna, luna de nadie

Ella a lo lejos

Una luz centela

La idea de mi estar

Quedar por la noche

Alli estaba a la entrada

Y las campanas a sonar

Y me di con llamarme mismo

Que es puerta del cielo

Ella enciende una vela

En muestra del camino

Suenan voces en el corredor

Y lo que indican diciend
Tropical the island breeze

All of nature wild and free

This is where I long to be

La isla bonita

And when the samba played

The sun would set so high

Ring through my ears and sting my eyes

Your Spanish lullaby

… to jostle thinking out of conventional ruts. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

And in any event, as long as its beautiful, its fine.

  1. The only thing that hurt my brain was this sentence, especially the part I emphasize in bold:

And when the US finally abandons the effort to maintain the Empire-By-Another-Name, the early result may well be a peace … perhaps tenuous, but it would not be at all surprising if it was more peace than we are experiencing at present as irredentist tendencies are encouraged in order to generate counter-invasion to generate a suitable political climate for a Republican victory in the Fall.

I know I could look it up, but what is “irredentist?”

    That was one tough sentence!

But wow, you are really weaving together a lot of threads here and I am very impressed with the progress of the Beauty Platform.

{blush} … sorry I didn’t notice right away … the break between the casting and the reading was taking the “there’s more” line for granted, but that was edited to avoid hogging too much of the front page. I’ve cleaned it up with some section headers.

gotta be sure to give this a thorough read.

    thanks in advance, Bruce.

  2. I’ve been thinking about this need for multipolarity as perhaps the only real check on US empire for a while now. What you’ve added to my thinking is so important – that we’ll also need to develop a goal for working together. And that part about being willing to listen to the rest of the world…powerful stuff, but we have a long way to go on that one.
