Bringing The Fear, Year after Year!

(noon. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

Our Corporate Media is on a mission.  It is a mission of concern for the American people.  It is a mission to enlighten ALL of us to the FACT that the world is not a SAFE place.

Teh World Is To Be Feared!  No, really.

Not only can bad things happen to YOU when you are out there in the world, but bad things can happen when bad people want to do bad things to YOU!  I’m positive!

The Corporate Media told me so.  Why just today……

From AP via FauxNews:

Nuclear or Bioterror Attack on U.S. Likely by 2013, Panel Warns

The United States can expect a terrorist attack using nuclear or more likely biological weapons before 2013, reports a bipartisan commission in a study being briefed Tuesday to Vice President-elect Joe Biden.

It suggests the Obama administration bolster efforts to counter and prepare for germ warfare by terrorists.

“Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing,” states the report, obtained by The Associated Press. It is scheduled to be publicly released Wednesday.

 My shuddering emphasis!

OMFG, Mr. Obama!  You had better put lottsa money into the Defense Department in order to allow Bechtel and Halliburton to do lottsa R&D on germ warfare sniffers.  No, we won’t expect anything that works, just lots of R&D.  Kinda like the Star Wars defense system that we’ve been paying for with no returns since Zombie Reagan was in office.

India Demands Pakistan Hand Over Suspected Terrorists

India has demanded that Islamabad hand over dozens of suspected terrorists believed to be living in Pakistan, including India’s most-wanted man.

Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee says the names of about 50 people were given to Pakistan’s high commissioner to India during a meeting Monday night.

The list includes Dawood Ibrahim, the alleged mastermind of 1993 Mumbai bombings and India’s most-wanted man. He is thought to be living in Pakistan, though Islamabad denies that.

The demand comes in the wake of the deadly Mumbai attacks.

Dammit, Pakistan!  You better get off your duffs and round up those dozens of suspected terrorists that NO DOUBT filled out the “I’m a Terrorist from India” forms in triplicate, back when they oh-so-sneakily snuck across the border and applied to live in your country.

If you don’t make sure that the address and phone number that they supplied at the time they filled out the “I’m a Terrorist from India” form is correct, I have the feeling that India is planning to nuke you and start the Mother of all Wars.  Or something like that.

Speaking of the terrorist attacks on Mumbai, the crack team of intelligence guys at the US intelligence place seems to have decided to check their crystal ball one morning a month or so ago, and the face in the ball told them this:

U.S. ‘Warned India’ of Potential Terror Attack on Mumbai

U.S. and Indian intelligence agencies received information as early as September that Pakistan-based terrorists were plotting attacks against Mumbai targets, an official said Tuesday, as the government demanded that Pakistan take “strong action” against those behind the deadly rampage.

U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly warned their Indian counterparts in October of a potential attack “from the sea against hotels and business centers in Mumbai,” a U.S. official told ABC News.

A second government source told the network specific targets, including the Taj hotel, were listed in the U.S. warning to India.

Now THAT is scary good information!  Kind of reminds me of the time that the US intelligence guys woke up one day and decided to check their crystal ball and the face in the ball told them some guys were going to fly airplanes into buildings in the United States, especially the World Trade Center in New York.  Seems the same amount of creedence was given to the intelligence in India in 2008 as was given in the United States in 2001.

Tune in this time tomorrow for more Corporate Media News that will scare the fucking bejesus out of you and have you begging for more Republicans in Congress AND the White House!

Get used to this crap.  The Corporate Media is going to go all out on this war on reality.  You see, reality is NOT what they sell.  The sell the fear and the smear and hope to make more money than GOD by doing so.

You and I are their targeted victims.  Be absolutely sure to let everyone you know understand that this is the case and that it is too sad that they keep trying the same old crap, year after year.

By the way?  The world is not a safe place.  You can trip, slip, fall and break your hip, your head and end up dead.  However, it’s probably better if you don’t dwell on these things.

more scary to the world beyond the people that are actually had to deal with the real fear of the situation.

They want to bring that palpable fear to YOU.

For their corporate reasons, of course.

    it does their profits good!

  1. I “fear” my hope of pulling Joe LIEberman’s chair from under the demolished Homeland Security council table will go unfulfilled if people don’t see that “politics of fear” is a dangerous mind game that ends with a big bang and not a catch phrase to bandy about.  Homeland Security, another fine legacy in the Star Wars tradition, sucks the money from public services like fire and police protection, and that’s something to worry about.

  2. Fear controls the masses.

I find it ironic:  NYC and DC got attacked.  And in DC, you could almost see the logic: it was the Pentagon.  Purveyor of death.

Well, I guess you could see the logic in the Twin Towers, too, if you weren’t a New Yorker and didn’t know that they represented so much more than just Wall Street (which wreaks its own havoc, as we are now witnessing).

And yet, we are no safer than we ever were, because our ports are completely open…our chemical factories and power plants have never been fully secured…no, you have to take your shoes off at the airport, but nuclear power facilities still lack full safeguards against terrorism.

But who is living in fear?  It ain’t the New Yorkers: we learned to live with risk years and years before 9/11.  That day was a shock, but we love our city.  Ditto, I think, for most of the long-term residents of D.C.

So who’s really scared?  Or maybe, qui bono from scaring people?

    feh to the right-wing fearmeisters.

Terrorism can never be completely defeated.  Ever.  But sound policies: Kerry & the Brits had the right idea, use good police work to catch ’em before they can blow anybody up: and not being the Big Prick of the world’s diplomacy scene could ameliorate the situation.

And it would help if Americans would stop being such fucking wusses and try to be brave, for god’s sake, or at least not cower under their beds every time the alert level goes from yellow to orange (are they still doing that, btw?).

    IMHO, of course.

Pay no attention to the matador. You’ll never notice the sword going in.

  3. OK, promise to go back through & read you carefully…but y’know what I keep thinking?

I keep thinking about the middle ages…when merchants were routinely robbed as they journeyed to buy or sell their goods.

It wasn’t funny for the merchants…

No, not funny at all.  And I do not advocate robbing the rich to give to the poor: that would be, erm, an effective system of taxation.

But, seems to me, we peasants, having nothing to lose, can laugh at the Big Fucking Deals who are losing their shirts in the markets…and there are more of us than there are of them so this is the time to reestablish collective bargaining.  To tax the rich and give to the poor.

    heh
