Republican Senators: Pretending to be Patriotic only works when WE are the Majority

(8 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

When the Republicans are NOT in the majority in the Senate, being partisan hack obstructionists that give not one damn about what happens to the American people or the country of America as long as they can point to the Democrats in the majority and say “look, nothing is getting done” is what they are all about.

For the Republicans in the Senate, the entirety of the incredible amount of issues that our country is facing at this time is nothing more than another wonderful invitation to play politics with the country and continue to thumb their collective nose at the middle class and the needs of working families in America.  Considering they were the majority party in power when all, and I mean ALL of the foundation was set for the myriad destructive economical, societal, ecological and constitutional destructive policies that has been visited upon our country and its people were enacted, one might think they would be a bit more interested in assisting cleaning up those messes that we can now SEE with our own eyes and feel with each passing day weighing down on people like a ton of bricks.

Nope.  Obstruction is the name of the game, and no silly outgoing President or incoming President is going to be able to plead to their sense of fair play or even simple basic decency in getting them to stop worrying about their current VERY MINORITY place in the US Government while they lie and obfuscate about each and every important issue facing our country at this time.

The laughable part is that these very Senators that ran up this countries debt to incredible record levels and sold our future to countries like China during the Bush Administration have now decided that they are “small government Republicans” and have somehow returned en masse to their basic Conservative principles (whatever the hell those are) now that the Democrats are in the majority and doing their damnedest to somehow overcome the despicable devastation they wrought upon American and by extension, the world.

Sure, bail out their buddies on Wall Street that the Republicans allowed to do as they damn well pleased, but don’t allow Congress to assist the people on Main Street, as those guys don’t invest much money in the market anyway.

We are going to have to stand up as a people and really come together as a country to overcome these unrepentant obstructionists if we are to see any real political changes that will allow this country to return to what it once was.

I would implore each of you to continue thinking about how we can best push these rogue Republican Senators to see the light of day and understand that the American people will not continue to allow them to hold up progress in these trying times just so they can say “look at what the Democrats didn’t do.”

I’ve some ideas that I’ll be laying out here in the next days and weeks, however in the meantime, I ask all of you to really put on that thinking cap and let’s figure out how to make a real dent in their armor quickly and with any luck, very embarrassingly.  I’ll take non-embarrassingly if it gets Americans back to work and Congress back to work for the American people.

Patriots, my ass.

the “troops” and then not funding them correctly for their wars for profit, they take the same tack with the entire country.

Funding is only for THEIR personal bank accounts.  Screw everybody else.  Power is all that matters to Republicans.

How about hanging one of them in public in front of the Capital? Would that help the rest of them to feel a bit more, shall we say, cooperative?

Republicans who wear a “D” after their names.

Intelligence Chairman Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, said yesterday that he thinks Obama should keep Bush appointees Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell and CIA Director Michael Hayden at their posts, and that “some parts of the CIA’s controversial interrogation program be allowed to continue, though he declined to say exactly what those parts should be”, to provide “continuity” and keep you “safe and secure” in a “world that is very dangerous.”

    Boo.

    When is Reyes term up?

    Anybody know where Tony is?

  1. What kills me is that the Democratic “leaders” not only went along to get along, they did so willingly and with absolute joy in so doing.  That’s why we have an incoming president who voted for the bailout and was a chief architect thereof, who voted to gut the 4th Amendment protection against unreasonable searches and seizures, who voted to continue the occupation of Iraq, who made and continues to make blatantly dishonest remarks about Iran and Russia, and so on.  It’s why we have a speaker of the House who actively protects the lawbreakers now occupying the White House from criminal prosecution and impeachment, a capitulation leader in the Senate who allows Republicans to filibuster anything they want – even if they can’t be bothered to physically show up and debate legislation – while preventing his own party from filibustering GOP bills, and party leaders in both chambers of Congress who go out of their way to punish those members who dare try to speak for and legislate on behalf of their constituents (think Dennis Kucinich facing tough primary challenges in the last two cycles).

Someone explain to me why all this shouldn’t be even more of an outrage than anything the Nazis…oops, I mean, Republicans…do.
