The Drifters:  Save the Last Dance for Me

Given the choice for women artists between Connie Francis, Connie Stevens, and Ella, I chose Ella:

Ella Fitzgerald:  But Not for Me

And here’s one of the classics:

    Bobby Darin:  Beyond the Sea

i’ve been on a Cat Steven’s kick.  his old stuff, his new stuff, etc.  songs of his have been running none-stop for days.   yesterday was “where do the children play” and then stumbled upon this ‘tiny house’ movement thing on the tubes and read and read and wouldn’t you know, a blog post titled “but where do the children play” appeared.

music is so central to our (at least my!) thinking, it’s amazing.

another reason i love this Sunday series.  thanks.

  1. The First Cut is the Deepest – PP Arnold

Here Comes My Baby – The Tremoloes

  2. The very first album I ever owned was the Buddy Holly Story. I was vaguely aware of That’ll Be the Day, more aware of Peggy Sue but really didn’t become fanatical about Buddy and the Crickets until after the crash. I guess he wasn’t getting played quite as much and then suddenly his records were on the air again, just when I reached an age where I could appreciate artists rather than songs.

I played that record over and over…and over. It occurs to me today that I can burn a CD in the same playing order as that LP and I think I’ll do that tomorrow. I’ve got my Buddy CDs at the office or I’d do it this morning!

  3. one of my top 25 songs of all time!! Three others from that year that are on my list: Save the Last Dance for Me, Georgia on my Mind and Will You Love Me Tomorrow.

This particular clip is not synched up right. The video and audio are either 1 or 2 beats off but luckily it’s exactly off, meaning the dance moves work and I decided to use this one because of those dance moves. Great, great stuff!

  4. What a sound.
