Your stimulus dollars at work…in Europe

Obama and the Democrats campaigned on jobs, buy American, taxing companies that ship jobs overseas, supporting unions and renegotiating trade.  

So far, Obama and the Democrats are flip-flopping on all of it; and I can’t help but ask, WTF are they doing?

To me, it looks as if they are using our money to create jobs overseas and to pay off the crooks that stole our money and bankrupted the country in the first place.  

The emphasis below and the wide open mouth both belong to me.  

Washington Post:  In finalizing the plan, officials have made a policy decision that could dismay lawmakers. The administration is likely to refrain from imposing tougher restrictions on executive compensation at most firms receiving government aid but instead retain looser requirements initially included in the Treasury’s $700 billion rescue program, a source familiar with the deliberations said. Officials are concerned that harsh limits could discourage some firms from asking for aid.

Barack Obama to dilute Buy American plan after Europe threatens US with trade war.  

The White House has promised to review the protectionist proposals, passed last week by Democratic allies in the House of Representatives, which would ban the use of non-American steel in the $800 billion of construction projects.

Obama officials are under pressure from what European diplomats in Washington describe as a discreet but outspoken campaign of “quiet fury” from America’s closest allies.

Oh give me a break.  If Europe wants more jobs to go with their free health care, let them pass and pay for their own stimulus bill.  They’re breaking my heart.

And last but not least, Dems add insult to injury by stripping out an amendment that would prohibit shipping our medical records and stimulus paid for IT jobs to India.

Murphy Amendment Stripped From Proposal

U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, said his amendment would have required that any health information technology system bought under a $20 billion grant program in the stimulus package be manufactured in the United States by American workers…

While the amendment received unanimous support in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, it was not included in the $825 billion spending package that was approved by the House Wednesday night by a 244-188 vote.

Murphy said he made another bid for his amendment Tuesday night in the House Rules Committee, but again without success. He said the Rules Committee did not approve any Buy American provisions with the exception of one applying to textiles.”
