Americans are conditioned, one might even say programmed…to obey authority figures. Instead of distrusting them and holding them accountable. Our schools and churches are nearly as much about instilling this fear of and deference to authority as they are about their stated purposes. You can even see this on Dkos, whenever a diary appears criticizing authority figures (other than high ranking Repubs) there are always a portion of comments that reflect this conditioning. Usually by attacking it reactively, rather than allowing authority to be questioned.
It is this fear of and deference to authority in part, this fear of rebelling that allows our Ruling Class to ….Rule us. It is this fear of authority that makes folks blanche when it is suggested that we hold our Ruling Classes, whether they be financial or political (not that there is much difference, now!) accountable.

1)To allow the financial scandals legal coverage, the legislative and executive branches perform lax coverage or change the laws so that they can happen. Money, from said financial scandals, is then pumped into the coffers of said politicians. Many in both the financial and political fields see money and power as 9/10ths of the law and act accordingly.
2) Interestingly enough, the rules change the higher you are on the ladder. Each new step, you get something more opened to you. It’s how the ruling classes have managed to poison our national psyche. “You can be like us.” Many, if not most, of us want to be like them.
3) We probably don’t, in the long term. In the short term, let the economy collapse for everybody.
4) Why bother me with Obama not ruling out rendition?

I’ve been getting a pop-up with audio saying that my computer is “at risk” (just once today, a few times yesterday) which I shut down with windows task manager. I’ve run scans with Trend Micro & found I’ve got two infected files: “Adware Consumer Alert System”.
Is there an easy way for a relative non-techie to get rid of these two files, or is it best to take the computer in to the shop to get it de-loused?
