Here’s one of the problems….

Yesterday, over at Orange, there was an FP diary about meeting some attendees of CPAC on a train in Washington.  They were described as overweight, crew cut and wearing suits in an area where people wear suits even to go out to the bars.  The last line, roughly, was that gosh oh gee, we can even tell them because they look different than us.

I read it and it just really turned me off.

I mean, it was pathetic. Period.

PATHETIC!

Now, you may be young enough not to have been called a long-haired hippy freak pinko commie fag (my apologies to Charlie Daniels).  I haven’t been called all of those, mainly because up ’til recently I’ve kept my hair medium lenght or shorter.  Pinko commie fag?  All of those, fairly often, though usually not together.

My point is, our side is supposed to be better than that.  Actually, the ‘progressive’ and ‘reality based’ side is supposed to be better than that.  Us leftists are! 🙂

And it appears they’re not.

Which is a shame, of course.  But not a surprise.  After all, they are a product of our society.

Let’s hope the same can’t be said here in DDland.
