They called for six inches with grave certitude. The thing is they call for a lot of things with grave certitude on the Memphis news stations. Much of it never happens. They talk frequently about their fancy “Doppler” radar systems for predicting the weather. Hey, I will give you a free tip: chances are good it will be hot in the summer and don’t visit in August. Unless you are from New Orleans and then it won’t seem too bad at all. Kinda balmy.
We are about 30 minutes outside of Memphis but I work there and lived there for a few years so we got to enjoy the charming after effects and none of the dire consequences.
This morning the dogs were eager to drag us out….
Down the road….
Dogs in action….
Shots around the property….
Did I mention that Arno enjoyed galloping full speed through the snow?
The evening before the other dog tried hunting for mice…
It has almost all melted now. Naturally when I called the parents in Canada to tell them they weren’t that impressed.
But it was quiet and beautiful for a moment….

Wanna come and play in the snow?
Well. I hope if it is heading your way you don’t have to drive or worse… shovel somebody out!

are you shocked we got snow here? Did you accidentally get spring in ND?
pics, calico.
what a great stolen sort of day.
(that what my aunt calls days like the one you had.)
time-out-of-time days.
what is the puppy’s name that has the snow snout?
Our cat Smokey wouldn’t even entertain the idea of going outside much less insist that we accompany him. I enjoyed the scenery through the living room window. We don’t get many days like yesterday.
This winter storm is supposed to get worse as it heads east. Bundle up, folks. Spring will come soon.
Fresh snow is very pretty. Add in some sunshine and warm air (skiing in Colorado), and winter can be down right hospitable. Add in lots of icy howling wind, and I hate it. Hope you had friendly snow.
We had our little snow last Thursday – I think about 4-6 inches. Problem was – about 3 inches came down in an hour or two, so visibility was pretty bad in the early afternoon.
As much as we’d like to claim to be tough up here in the tundra, I had staff coming to me asking if we were going to shut down because of the snow. I said, “Like yeah, it would be a great idea to send everyone home in the middle of the storm when no one can see the roads.” By the end of the work day it was slow-going, but manageable.
Me, I’m dreaming of the Baja – which is where I’ll be two weeks from today. Forecast is for clear and 87 degrees today. Yeehaw!!!!!
