An Opened Mind XXVI

Art Link

Shell

Metaphors

Sometimes when you

peer inside an egg

all that you find there

is the inside of the shell

holding in darkness

A brain can seem as empty

A heart can seem as black

Courage can seem as fragile

as an empty egg shell

I am reminded of the wizard

It was all for show

with smoke and mirrors

Impressively awesome

with very little substance

The parallel is clear

No reader has yet voiced the names on the tip of my mind when I wrote this poem, so here they are:  Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove.

Good morning.  Be excellent to one another.

NH State Senate passes a marriage equality bill 13-11.

On the bad side, they voted against equality for transfolk 24-0.  So much for the policy of incrementalism.

  1. Denying transfolk the civil right that they are extending to same-sex couples is mindless and a real slap in the face.  Grrr.  How can the Senate make this distinction legally?  Does the license bureau have the right to ask if you were always a woman?

The chess set went by UPS today and will arrive at school on Monday.  I e-mailed the tracking number to you.
