Given that it was basically my introduction to blogging, Orange shaped my understanding of how to participate in blogging. I rather quickly discovered that my views were viewed there as suspiciously “fringe”, and “fringe” types there have a likelihood of bamnation. At the same time, observation taught me that the main way, in fact really the only way, for someone to get banned there was to get involved in long back-and-forth threads with the enforcers of orthodoxy. Apparently, a proper witch-hunt takes some ginning up, if you don’t allow them that time and space to gin up, they can’t create the board dynamics that get you banned. So what I learned stylistically to do was to make my entire point in a single comment and move on, not to engage with critical responders at all.
More recently I discovered a forum mostly composed of hard left types close to my own politics, and at that site I’m starting to draw back out of the narrow shell I adopted at Orange, and get more into ongoing discussions. It still feels quite unnatural though, I think it will take some time to isolate the defensive approach solely at Orange.

Mine was as the result of a fight with a kossak named biminicat. Forced me to change my style.
The rest is history … or whatever.
Maybe that’s my problem. 🙂
I have some principles.
1. Write from the heart.
2. Every serious commenter deserves a substantive response.
3. Leave enough hooks for multiple discussions to arise.
But it is still the case that I have little idea about what is going to catch fire and what is going to go mostly ignored.
there are definitely certain opinions I trust, if they make a comment then I file it away for future reference.
I am styless or de-styled? Not sure.
