I know why you’re here . . .
You’re here because you know something. What you know is hard to explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with America. Something very wrong. You know what it is, but no one in power will do anything about it. And that frustrates you, your frustration is like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.
I know what you’ve been doing . . . why you hardly sleep, why you live the way you do, and why day after day, you read progressive blogs. You’re looking for him. You’re looking for a progressive leader. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn’t really looking for him. I was looking for the leadership within me, the leadership within each of us.
How do we achieve real change? It’s the question that drives us. It’s the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I do.
But no one in power will ask it . . .
They’re afraid of the answer.
So they keep taking the blue pill. Most Americans are afraid of the answer too, so they keep taking the blue pill. When Republicans are in power, it has an R on it. When Democrats are in power, it has a D on it.
But it’s the same blue pill.
Last year, Dennis Kucinich offered Americans the red pill. He wanted them to see how deep the corporate corruption rabbit hole goes, how deep the Pentagon rabbit hole goes, how deep the NSA rabbit hole goes, how deep the CIA torture rabbit hole goes, how deep the big oil and big pharma and big banking rabbit holes go.
They are deep rabbit holes. China Syndrome deep.
But only a handful of Americans took that red pill. Too many Americans are afraid of the truth, they’re afraid of reality. They let politicians pull the politics hood over their eyes so they won’t have to see the truth, so they won’t have to face reality, so they won’t have to admit they’re slaves, that they’re in bondage. In a prison they cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for their mind.
So here we are, still stuck in the Matrix. Still stuck in this corporate media-generated dream world built to keep us under control.
We know America needs real change, but the wealthy and the powerful will not allow it. They use the corporate media against us. It’s a mind-killing system. That system is our enemy.
When you turn on the TV, what do you see? Agent Smiths on every newscast, that’s what you see. When you watch C-Span, what do you see? Agent Smiths on every committee, that’s what you see. They’re in every agency of the government, they’re in the state and federal court systems, they’re in law enforcement, they wear Agent Smith badges, they pack Agent Smith tasers and pepper spray, they’ll give you a good dose of it if you speak out for real change.
But there’s a glitch in the Matrix. All of those Dick Cheney deja vu moments we’re seeing prove it. We might just shut it down yet, if we find the leadership within each of us, if we nurture it and develop it and apply it. I know real change is out there, waiting for us to make it happen. But we could use some help.
Obama could be this guy . . .
But all too often, he’s this guy . . .
I don’t know the future. I don’t know if Obama will ultimately help us achieve real change. But I didn’t write this essay to tell you how all this is going to end. I wrote it to tell you how it’s going to begin.
Lots of Red Pill Essays.

Obama’s not a red-pill sorta guy. You don’t get to be a red-pill sorta guy, generally speaking, having been run through Harvard Law (huh, Sonia?).
I figure it will take economic collapse (or a war or a plague of similar consequence) to bring down the system. Something that will shake enough Americans to their core.
I’m rooting for economic collapse.
The fools in charge of the U.S. economy are doing just fine, as far as I’m concerned.
Can’t wait to see all the bloated pigs rotting ’round the trough.
Sibel Edmonds’ latest…
“At my new blog, 123 Real Change, I’m happy to present an experimental project, Project Expose MSM, created to provide readers with specific mainstream media blackout and/or misinformation cases based on the documented and credible first-hand experiences of legitimate sources and whistleblowers.123 Real Change is inviting all members of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition (NSWBC), other active (covert or overt) government whistleblowers, and even reporters themselves, to publish their experiences in regard to their own first-hand dealings with the media, where their legit disclosures were either intentionally censored, blacked out or tainted….”

Go take a gander at Orange State. Lots of gay marriage diaries. Lots of diaries about the SCOTUS pick. (For the permanent record, I’m glad it was Obama and not Palin’s running mate that made this nomination.)
Switch on one of the 24/7 “news” channels. Any of them. Or watch the evening news. Same sort of stuff. Gay marriage. North Korea’s being a little pissant again. More SCOTUS talk. “Is Sotomayor a racist, or isn’t she?” (Bullshit. Read the quote in context. D’s don’t like R nominees and R’s don’t like D nominees to the SCOTUS. End of story. Can’t sell advertising with that.)
But…
I still live in a nation that tortures. A nation where the people don’t care that we torture, as long as it’s only scary brown people / muslims. A nation where “impeachment is off the table” and Liz Cheney, the daughter of the torturer in chief, is being seriously asked if she’s going to run for congress???
Even the foreign papers have started to push the story that “Obama won’t release the pictures” that look just like all the other pictures from Abuse Graibh, when that’s not the story, at all. The fucking STORY is that it was going on all over the world. The fucking STORY is that Cheney was ordering torture to link 911 and Iraq. The fucking STORY is that a few ‘grunts’ were punished for what Cheney and Rummy ordered them to do.
And we’re already letting them sweep it all under the rug. Again.
You guys don’t know me very well, yet.
This really pisses me off.
Makes me want to move out into the country and put up a tall fence with “survivors will be prosecuted” signs posted every few feet. Just keep the lunatics that live in this particular asylum called America at arms length for the rest of my life.
But I’d end up being the one prosecuted.
This country is broken.
And it’s up to us to fix it?
Fuck, I’m tired.
After 8 years of Bush and Cheney, I’m tired.
Think we can get a little help from congress, this time?
LOL
Sometimes I crack myself up.
As long as we all wait around looking for a leader, what we have right now is the best we’ll ever get, and any change will be one for the worse. We gotta be our own leaders, why I stay on the blogs is to share ideas, information, lay groundwork. So I’m not here waiting for my main man, I’m not waiting for no ding-dong, I’m looking for a velvet revolution underground that digs itself.
if we take that away… they haven’t got a damned thing left.
Secrecy is enemy number one.
