Michael Jackson, one of the world’s most popular entertainers, has died. He was 50.

Jackson apparently suffered from cardiac arrest and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital this afternoon. Paramedics performed CPR on Jackson in the ambulance but were unable to revive him, according to TMZ.com.

The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson’s rented home, was roped off Thursday with police tape.

News trucks were gathered, helicopters flew overhead, and orange cones were laid out to redirect traffic.

His music wasn’t really my type, but I think there is no denying that he was a phenomenal talent.

who ever walked the planet.  Like he didn’t belong here.  His affinity for ET and the Elephant Man were no mere coincidences.

    Talk about being uncomfortable in one’s own skin . . . .

  1. performer of all time.  No one will take away his greatness.

  2. His performances were electrifying, to say the least.

His life was tragic in so many ways.  He, basically, was a victim of his parentage, who pushed him from when he was very young and he lost out on so much of his child life.  Elizabeth Taylor befriended Michael — they had much in common — she, too, was a victim of her parents, namely, her mother, having pushed her at an early age and, she, too, missed out on so much of her childhood.  Psychologists tell us that for whatever “stage” we miss out in our normal development, we will always seek to recover somewhere in our lives.  We will never know for sure about Michael Jackson, but I think it’s certain that he did try to recapture that “period” in his life which had been lost to him.  The rest, we’ll never know, whether he was guilty or a victim of some, particularly, the kid with cancer, who wanted to “exploit” him for his money.  Whatever the truth, he, despite his incredible career, was a “tainted” human being.  (This is the sad part of accusations — once they are cast, it instills a “mindset” within people, whether true or false — never to be reversed.)

    May he rest in peace!

  3. but his music just never connected with me.  I do feel sad about the demise of such a young person, regardless of the cause.

    Warmest regards,

    Doc

I can remember buying his albums for her.   I could never understand why he disfigured himself with all that plastic surgery.  “Uncomfortable in his skin” is the best explanation I’ve heard.   50 is mighty young.  Wonder if it was cardiac arrest from prescription drugs.
