A hat tip to emptyhweel for catching this one.
You know how Obama’s DOJ claims that we can’t see Cheney’s interview with Patrick Fitzgerald because it’s privileged? Well, Dick Cheney’s own lawyer already leaked the so-called privileged content three years ago.
A lawyer familiar with the investigation, who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter, told NEWSWEEK that the “president declassified the information and authorized and directed the vice president to get it out.” But Bush “didn’t get into how it would be done. He was not involved in selecting Scooter Libby or Judy Miller.” Bush made the decision to put out the NIE material in late June, when the press was beginning to raise questions about the WMD but before Wilson published his op-ed piece. [my emphasis]
I interpret this as another Bush “Git R Done” moment where he hands off to Cheney and goes back to playing Guitar Hero.
I guess that puts the lid on the fact that Libby fell on the grenade for Cheney. Good thing Bush the War Criminal gave Libby a commuted sentence 5 minutes later.
Yes, these idiots managed to leak the priveledged interview about the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity. If they weren’t so genuinely incompetent I would say that Bush/Cheney was trying to be stupid.

Dick Cheney’s lawyer, Terry O’Donnell, attended the interview. Terry O’Donnell then went to Newsweek reporter Michael Isikoff and leaked the story, which Isikoff wrote.
In my opinion, this is the big piece of information to take away here.
Bush made the decision to put out the NIE material in late June, when the press was beginning to raise questions about the WMD but before Wilson published his op-ed piece.
Joe Wilson, a voice who could disprove that the Uranium to Iraq story was thrown under the bus when his wife, CIA agent Valerie Plame, was outed by the Bush Administration so that gained through the waterboarding and torture of Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi that Saddam Hussein to WMD’d and a connection with al Qaeda could be built up before the American public and the UN in order to justify a war of aggression in Iraq. All of this was done so George W. Bush could show us the “Truth”?
Bullshit
We all remember how upset this leak made the Bush/Cheney Administration.
O’Donnell attended Cheney’s interview, and when Cheney’s role in the leak began to blow up, O’Donnell told Isikoff a story that distracted from the implications of Cheney’s role and reinforced the cover story.
A lot of video, of course, is still out there on the intertoobz, despite how much the DoJ would like to pretend no one knows.
Of course, Bush is defending his de-classification of the files that lead to the outing of Valerie Plame. I would love to hear why he decided to out Valerie Plame, since the evidence clearly shows that Bush and Cheney had a central role in the fiasco.
Then again, I can draw my own conclusion.
Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi claimed that Saddam Hussein was training al-Qaeda to use chemical and biological weapons. We know for a fact that al-Libi was tortured. This, as we know, was false. Joe Wilson, who disproved the fact that Iraq was seeking yellowcake uranium from Africa for itsnuclear-weapons program was thrown under the bus, his wife’s life and her teams life was risked so that the Iraq-Saddam memo could be pushed, and now we find ourselves where we are today. Since then, al-Libi has died in prison in Libya earlier this year. Not Guantanamo or Bagram but Libya where no one will ever know what the true story behind the Plame leak, whether al-Libi’s testimony was a lie like many of Khalid Sheik Mohammed’s were, and just what Bush/Cheney really knew abut the Plame/Torture/Libby connection.
And that is just one more reason why we must investigate and prosecute the Bush/Cheney Administration for War Crimes and falsely leading America into a war of aggression.
If you have not done so already, please sign the petition to AG Eric Holder to name a Special Prosecutor to investigate and prosecute the Bush/Cheney Adminsitration for War Crimes and violations of U.S. and International law. If you can, E-mail this petition to others as well.

War Criminals must be brought to justice
yesterday?
So far, the “interviews”–whether of Libby, Cheney, Gonzales or Rove, etc–seem to have yielded little in the way of accountability, unlike the very public “interviews” during Watergate, where feet were publicly held to the fire, and “I don’t recall” wasn’t an acceptable response.
Me: “You made all that shit up, didn’t you?”
Cheney: “Gurgle hmpfff gurgle… Just stop and I’ll tell you anything you want to know.”
Me: “Get the court stenographer in here.”
OK, I know, torturing the torturer is wrong even if he claims “it’s not torture”.
