Death of a Blog

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

It originally started out as a blog that did not allow for comments.

It then morphed into a blog that allowed for reader input: Welcome to the New ConyersBlog (March 17, 2005), which quickly became a hotbed for the politically frustrated.

Then after two and a half months, it exploded on the scene with the DSM petition (June 3, 2005), which culminated in the now infamous “basement hearings” (June 16, 2005). But in a world full of change (don’t make me laugh), what does that blog look like today?

Let’s go have a look shall we.

January 30th 2009, Our Responsibility

To me, the bottom line is this: If we move on now without fully documenting what occurred, without acknowledging the betrayal of our values, and without determining whether or not any laws have been broken, we cannot help but validate all that has gone on before. If we look at the Bush record and conclude that the book should simply be closed, we will be tacitly approving both the documented abuses and the additional misdeeds we will have chosen to leave uncovered.

February 13th, More support for Commission

…USA Today/Gallup poll demonstrating over 70 percent of Americans favor an investigation of the Bush Administration for its role in politicizing the Department of Justice.

February 16th, Obama administration defending Bush secrets

the Justice Department is defending Bush administration decisions to keep secret many documents about domestic wiretapping, data collection on travelers and U.S. citizens, and interrogation of suspected terrorists.

And then,

* February- 1 more post on the subject of healthcare

* March- 5 posts, zero on the subject of investigations.

* April- Zero posts, Crickets

* May- 3 posts on the subject of healthcare and the economy

And then on June 17th 2009, Monica Conyers named in bribery probe

City Council member Monica Conyers, the wife of a prominent congressman, sought political support from Baptist pastors and prayers from constituents Tuesday as her re-election bid collided with a corruption probe involving cash bribes handed over in fast-food parking lots.

I am not saying that there is a connection of any sort, I just think it is interesting to place this event in context with activity on the blog.

* June- Zero posts and more Crickets

* July- Zero posts and even more Crickets

* August- Recess….Congress Goes Out To Play!

The last post to this congressmans website was May 14, 2009. Perhaps it is time he turned out the lights.

  1. Your 80 freakin years old, your wife’s political career went down in flames, and your legacy in the history books is going down in flames. Meanwhile, you finally have the gavel in your hand. So the question is “What are you going to do?” Are you are just going to just sit by and “validate all that has gone on before”, being an accessory for all that is yet to occur or are you going to finally understand that you have nothing to lose and bring the long awaited justice and accountability that this whole freakin world needs and deserves?

Do something or just turn out the lights!

  2. Then the other blog is surly dead!

  3. and noticed it’s pretty dead.  I think Tahoe and Frosty had posts on the latest thread, but that was it.

  4. I told you that blogging for 5 years was an achievement.

  5. Well, the “death” started occurring long before “Monica’s problems.”  It was a gradual “meltdown” beginning, I think, with Conyers’ failure to enforce the subpoenas issued on Rove, et al.  Then, compounding that loss of faith, was his non-commitment on the Bush war-crime violations and his hemming and hawing — saying one thing, then another.  All in all, I think EVERYONE on the blog simply lost faith in Conyers and this was beginning of the end!

Who let you out at this of day?
