Intrepid Liberal Journal’s recent interview: The Death of Why?: An Interview With Author Andrea Batista Schlesinger is on of the best things I think I’ve seen anywhere on the web in a long time. It’s about a 40 minute audio podcast, but I think it’s really worth listening to. 🙂

  1. Greenwald today… good, cuz I dont have time to hardly read it, much less write anything !

A task force appointed by President Obama to issue recommendations on how to close Guantanamo announced yesterday it will miss its deadline and instead needs a six-month extension, potentially jeopardizing Obama’s promise to close Guantanamo within a year.  The announcement was made in a briefing given by four leading Obama officials, where the condition of the briefing was that none of the officials could be named (why not?) and all media outlets agreed to this condition (why?).

I wish this guy the best of luck.  Amazing how this story is completely under the radar.  A journalist from another country held as a political prisoner by the United States for SIX YEARS.

    By Jeremy Scahill

Sami al-Haj, the al Jazeera journalist who spent seven years at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo is preparing to file a lawsuit against former president George W Bush and other top Bush administration officials. al-Haj was repeatedly interrogated by U.S. operatives attempting to falsely link al Jazeera to al Qaeda. al-Haj was also tortured.

    He was also TORTURED.

    President Barack Obama

    The White House

    Washington, D.C. 20500

    Dear Mr. President,

We were surprised to read your signing statement in which you expressed the view that you are constitutionally free to ignore the conditions duly adopted in the legislative process regarding funding for the international financial institutions. As you know, there was a great deal of resistance to this funding during debate on the supplemental bill – as there often is for these entities – and the four of us worked very hard to support the inclusion of funding for the IMF and the World Bank.

The conditions that you have expressed your right to ignore are critical: each represents significant policy concerns, especially in light of the history of many of the international financial institutions that we believe have been insufficiently supportive of values that we know you share with us. In addition, these conditions were important in securing support in both houses.

During the previous administration, all of us were critical of the President’s assertion that he could pick and choose which aspects of congressional statutes he was required to enforce. We were therefore chagrined to see you appear to express a similar attitude.

According to a Tweet by ABC News’ Jake Tapper, a former Fox News producer received a ten year prison sentence for child pornography charges.

Tapper’s Twitter said, “the @foxnews reporter who pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, Aaron Bruns (@abruns) was just sentenced to 10 yrs in prison.”

  3. there is either a Zionist conspiracy running this country, OR, the Rothchilds et al are actually not Jewish and are playing the Jews against the Arabs to start another war.  That seems to be the case for WWI and WWII, which resulted in the state of Israel in 1948.  Anyone else picking up on this?
