Time to boycott MSNBC

(9 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

Yes, Rachel Maddow, after giving her network cohort graciousness, took him to task for his racist views.  So what!  Why is Pat Buchanan still given a forum by MSNBC to spout his racism?

It’s time for a boycott…

There are two, name them, TWO people on MSNBC worth watching; Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.  That’s it, people.  So, tell me, other than Pat Buchanan needing air time, was he even a guest on Rachel Maddow’s show?

Well, I don’t care whose show it is, Rachel’s, Keith’s, if they have Pat Buchanan on as a guest commentator, I’m not watching it.  I’ve put MSNBC, and Ms. Maddow, on notice.

To the Producers,

I am not an avid fan of MSNBC.  I am a fan of Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.  I have kept my viewership to Mr. Olbermann and Ms. Maddow because they are, in my eyes, the only two hosts on MSNBC who report the news, give commentary that is truthful, and respect their viewership.  I have pointedly ignored any and all programs on MSNBC that features, or, has as a guest Pat Buchanan.  The reason is all too painfully clear; Mr. Buchanan is a racist.  I normally tune into Keith Olbermann’s Countdown and then watch Rachel Maddow’s show .  However, when I tuned into Ms. Maddow’s show the other night, she had on as a guest Mr. Buchanan, so, I immediately turned to another channel.

Mr. Buchanan wrote the following article:

“Pundits here gets hoots of appreciation for doing to a white Christian woman what would constitute a hate crime if done to a “wise Latina woman.” But, as no Republican who followed the script of the mainstream media ever won a national election, why should the party pay them mind?”

First, I’m sure Mr. Buchanan means by, “Pundits here,” commentators of MSNBC.  Secondly, what was “done” to Sarah Palin was to accurately describe her interviews and actions for what they were; dismal displays of intelligence in a Vice-Presidential candidate.  Lastly, Republicans haven’t “won a national” since George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, making Mr. Buchanan’s statement absurd because, as I remember, the media fawned all over George W. Bush while critically attacking both Al Gore and John Kerry.

“When Republican identification is down to 20 percent, but 40 percent of Americans identify themselves as conservatives, do Republicans need a GPS to tell them which way to go?”

“Why did McCain fail to win the white conservative Democrats Hillary Clinton swept in the primaries? He never addressed or cared about their issues.”

“These are the folks whose jobs have been outsourced to China and Asia, who pay the price of affirmative action when their sons and daughters are pushed aside to make room for the Sonia Sotomayors. These are the folks who want the borders secured and the illegals sent back.”

Why has the GOP identification gone down to 20%?  Because George W. Bush was a disaster for his entire eight years.  But, Mr. Buchanan doesn’t address that issue, instead, he inaccurately equates the outsourcing of American jobs to affirmative action, and, calls Judge Sotomayor an “affirmative action baby.”

How, then, to handle Sotomayor?

As Republicans have never brutalized a Supreme Court nominee — Ruth Bader Ginsburg got 96 votes and Stephen Breyer 87 — they need no lectures on decency or decorum.

What they must do is expose Sotomayor, as they did not in the case of Ginsburg, as a political activist whose career bespeaks a lifelong resolve to discriminate against white males to the degree necessary to bring about an equality of rewards in society.

Mr. Buchanan must have missed the fact that the Supreme Court has been dominated by white males since its inception when he speaks of an “equality of rewards” for society, and, I’m a white male.  Even I can see the evidence of white male domination when it comes to the Supreme Court.  Here is where Mr. Buchanan goes into his racist rant.

Sonia is, first and foremost, a Latina. She has not hesitated to demand, even in college and law school, ethnic and gender preferences for her own. Her concept of justice is race-based.

As a white male, I have been on the receiving end of affirmative action and nepotism.  I was not hired for a job, despite five positions being available, when I was the highest ranked candidate for the positions, because three of the positions were allotted to EEO and the other two positions were filled by “friends or relatives.”  I didn’t like it, but, I can appreciate the fact that blacks, latinos, and asians have been discriminated against for so long by white males who did the hiring that those three EEO slots were necessary.  Mr. Buchanan, however, forgets the racism that pervaded America that demanded affirmative action laws.

You may read the rest of the evidence of Mr. Buchanan’s racist diatribe for yourselves.  I, however, will not tune into ANY MSNBC program, not ONE, that has Mr. Buchanan as a guest, or features him.  He is a racist white male dinosaur and I refuse to listen to his racist rants.  If that means I do not watch Mr. Olbermann or Ms. Maddow, so be it.  They shouldn’t have had on Mr. Buchanan to spout his racist views.

Regards,

Michael R. Gass

Sure, we all want Rachel to succeed, and Keith, at least, speaks it like it should be.  But, racist dinosaurs like Pat Buchanan need to be put out to pasture.  That means hitting the network where it hurts; ratings.

Ed Schultz at 6 PM EST.

    (I tivo his show)

In a lot of ways, Ed is more of a Progressive Activist,

    than either Keith or Rachel.

    Pat B. probably got a contract —

    Hopefully it’s up soon,

and they find another talking stooge from the right.

    (Oh, scratch that last line!)

Unless, maybe they can sign up Ron Paul instead, maybe?
